Hi
I'm researching a James Paton (b. Abt 1819-1824, Stirlingshire, Scotland; d. Australia) and Catherine Park (b. Abt 1824-27, Stirlingshire, Scotland; d. Australia).
They married in 1849, Stirlingshire, Scotland.
They had their first child Mary, b. 1848/1849 in Stirlingshire, Scotland and another 5 children born in Victoria, Australia.
Anybody have any connection/information?
Cheers

Hi dkersa
Bearing in mind that until 1891 the Parish of Alva (now in Clackmannanshire) was in Stirlingshire could this be your James and Catherine:
'James Paton and Catherine Park both in this parish gave up their names to be proclaimed with a view to marriage and were proclaimed accordingly. 30 May 1846. John Riddock, Session Clerk'.
That was in the OPR for Alva, Ref 470/3 Frame 609
There is no sign of a daughter Mary in the index to the Birth OPRs.

Hi Hannah
Thank you
I have so many conflicting things about these two!
From the ships manifest we have - James Paton b about 1819, married Catherine PARK b about 1827, marriage date unknown, had one child Mary born 1848 and subsequently emigrated to Australia on 4th April 1849 on the "Mary Shepherd" from Alace?, Stirlingshire.
From birth and death certs - on birth certificate of Robert Paton in 1859 the ages of both Catherine and James are stated as 35 years (assuming that they were both born abt 1824)?, married in 1849 in Stirlingshire.
But this has definitely been the only reference I have had to the those two names in Scotland.
Thanks again
