Hi Ger
Just to let you know Mary has had no computer for the last few weeks - she's relying on access at her son's house occasionally - I know because we had been corresponding on another Wexford thread, where she had been very helpful to me - so keep your fingers crossed - I'm sure she'll be back to you soon!

I fear your Salmon ancestor in Wexford would not have been very popular. He was a manager in Pierces during the Lockout of 1911 when 'scab' or 'blackleg' labour was inported while 400 Wexford workers were locked out.
I will check my archives for other info.

This site may give you some insight into the period.

Hi Nicky,
Thank you for your help ,as a fellow Wexford man i know that when you say Thomas Salmon was not very popular you are being very kind and putting it mildly,i have read some newspaper articles from 1911 and i think loathed would be a good word to describe how he was viewed in those days.I have read the 1911 story on your site before and found it excellent i love your sites and your latest book.Thank you for the offer to look up your archives and hopefully you will find some more information,Ger
