Not sure if "Sydna" is male or female?? Female judging by other entries.
Using a birth date of 1807 (1885-78) and assuming they were born in Caernarvonshire you may have for 1881:
Jane Sidney Jones, head, 74, widow, Clynog, Caer'von.
Sarah Jones, servant , 25, Llandinorwic, Caer'von
Ref: RG11/5570/30/16
Something a bit strange about both birth dates. If Sydna is a woman she would have been 57 when William B was born!
-
Going back to 1851, the only Sydna Jones is aged 34 (1817) unless she's fibbing!!
Ref:HO107/2514/232/1.
Sorry, run out of time for the complete census. Will pick it up later unless someone else does it

If you look for William B Williams in 1891, the closest is a slate quarryman from Bangor who was born in 1864.
Following him back, you don't come across anyone called "Sydna Jones" who's son he could be.
I'll stop there unless there is more info about this pair.

thank you for looking Merc
My gr grandmother was called Sydney Williams nee ?? born Llanllyfni in 1873 do you think William B williams is a brother or in law as the dates are about right? and Sydna Jones could be her mother, I thought her mother was called Jane but its not confirmed,
Sydney married a William Williams who was born c 1870 in caernarvon area dont know anything more about him,
not sure if this is enough for you to do anymore with!! heres hoping
thanks Pam

There is a William B Williams showing on the 1871 Census born in Llanbeblig in 1871,the son of Thomas and Catherine Williams.

Hi Welsh Lady
Your a Star :)
I wish I had your experience to find this info so fast, it seems to take me ages....
I will add this info on Peter Jones and his parents/family to my tree and hopefully I can prove its connection, I have sent for more certifcates, so hopeflly I will be getting there.
This is such a fantastic site, all the help you get is brilliant
Can I ask how do I go about getting a copy of the extract please?
Thanks again
Pam

Its just ive been doing it longer so know where to look.To get the original entry youd have to write to the Record Office in Caernarvonshire and ask for a photocopy of the entry in Parish Records.I find Genuki a great site for info go onto the Caernarvonshire section.
But although its expensive i always send for a birth cert and marriage cert in Families as this confirms you have the right family.Early on in researching my family tree i followed the wrong family in the census it was only when i purchased the marriage cert i saw whered id gone wrong. And i know a lot of people have done the same.
Good Luck Let me know when you get Peters marriage cert and if his Father is Owen.

Hi,
I saw an earlier message ref. Tom Hughes (Machno terrace). His brother Hugh was my grandfather and I can confirm your links to Joseph Hughes. Macno terrace was built by THE hUGHES FAMILY and the statue of the virgin Mary in the catholic church in Conwy was made by the elder Hugh Hughes.
Regards,
gareth Hughes
-
Hi Gareth
It is nice to find another link to the family
I did not know that Machno Terrace or the statue of the Virgin Mary was built by the Hughes family that is so good to know. It is a shame that the Terrace has now gone my taid would have been upset by that.
If you have anymore family or local knowledge I would love to hear from you.
Thanks
Pam
