Gene Genie:
One of my paternal grandmothers was a Hayter (Frances Sophia) from Whiteparish in Wiltshire, from a line of Hayters going back to 1727. I have on-line entries supporting this back to the birth of her parents, William Hayter and Clarissa Rawlins in the early 1800s; the rest of the information came from a tree published on another family history website. Is this of any interest? If so, am I allowed to tell you which website I found it on?!

Also masses of Hayters around Downton, Wiltshire,
Probably linked to the ones at Whiteparish.

Good morning Members
I have a line of Australian HAYTERs descended from Jeremiah HAYTER who was born 9 Aug 1815 Wiltshire ENG.
He came to Australia abt 1838 with his new spouse Sarah ELLIOTT b16 Mar 1819 in Handley Dorset ENG..
Jeremiah died in Moss Vale NSW 5 Aug 1892:
They had 11 children, all born in Australia.
Will you kindly forward me some detail on Jeremiah's ancestors?

EDO,
Have looked at the christening records I have from Downton, Wilts and see no Jeremiah among the Hayters born in your time frame.

There was a Jeremiah George HAYTER, aged 4, baptised 11 March 1824 at Harbridge, Hampshire.
His parents were Alexander and Keturah.
Still a bit late to be your Jeremiah. :( It's a shame he left England before the 1841 census. :(
-
I think we can eliminate that one ???
1851 census - Jeremiah HAYTER aged 30 born Harbridge is living in Holybourne.

Good morning Members,
Thank you for your responses.
Is there any chance of confirming the marriage of Jeremiah HAYTER and Sarah ELLIOTT in Tollard Royal, Wiltshire on 4 Oct 1838?
I'll greatly appreciate your time and effort on my behalf.

Hiya does anyone have the name of Harold Geroge Hayter in their line? He was the son of Geroge and Ada Hayter, born 1900 South Stoneham, Hampshire. He was killed during the second world war aboard the HMS Barham. If so, would love to hear from you. Lynn

Good morning
No! I can't find a link to Harold George HAYTER.

My Hayters are from Marylebone London in the late 1700s, & the 1800s. My g g grandmother Eleanor Hayter born 1819 daughter of Charles a blacksmith married 19/2/1838 Charles Trowsdale an umbrella maker at Parish Church, Marylebone. She was a minor living at Market Street.
Her father Charles may have been Charles Stephenson Hayter [born 1789 son of Charles Hayter & Martha Stephenson who married St George Hanover Square in 1788 - Pallot] who married Ann Dunevan in 1810 St Georges Hanover Square. I have been unable to prove this however.
Does this Marylebone branch of Hayters link up with the Wiltshire one at all? Does anyone else have this family in their tree?
My mother's cousin has a visiting card of John Hayter [the envelope is marked Uncle John Hayter late of Jack Straw's Castle tavern Hampstead Heath]. I have posted an image. I suspect this is Eleanor's uncle John & that he was the artist son of Charles Hayter who wrote the book on perspective, but again no proof.
Any help gratefully received.

Hi Josey,
I wonder if you have any information on Charles Trowsdale you could share. I have his father originating from near the North York Moors where my Trowsdales were centred. About a generation later my GGrandfather, William, opened an umbrella shop in York which is just too much of a coincidence. So far I haven't been able to find a link between my Trowsdales and the Marylebone ones but it has to exist.
Many thanks,
David McArdle

Hi Jean, I sent an email to the address you gave (substituting the @ sign of course) but it bounced. Anyway the contents were:
Hi again Jean,
Sorry I am a bit vague. It has been quite a while since I looked at the family and feel a bit out of touch.
My William (umbrella maker)was born in Malton , North Riding of Yorks in 1857. I have (your) Charles’ parents as John Trowsdale born abt 1759 in Gilling and Betty (Elizabeth Brown) born 1763, Gilling. Like I said I have no confirmed link from my Trowsdales to yours but there has to be one. My William, my Great Grandfather must have learned the trade from someone. His father was also William (so was his grandfather )and was born abt 1831 in Bilsdale Midcable), his mother was Elizabeth Nares from Hull.
Like I said I haven’t looked for a few years and had an email from someone saying that the 1911 census was online from there I found Find My Past and am really enjoying it. Doesn’t help with these people though
You mentioned Nova Scotia – there was a Trowsdale who went that way too – Prince Edward Island – Barnabus Trowsdale born born abt 1812 Helmsley. I find my Irish roots a bit frustrating to trace before they moved to Durham.
Anyway, nice to talk to you again, you can see I have changed my address too. Haven’t spoken to Mike in a while – I have also been trying to find Karen who had a milkhill email address which is now bouncing. She has a lot of Trowsdale info too.
Cheers for now,
David McArdle
My email address is now way_land at tpg.com.au

Might as well chuck mine into the pot. :D
I have one of my BONNINs marrying a HAYTER;
Agnes Julia Vernon BONNIN married Thomas Millar HAYTER, 1886, Brentford, MDX.
Thomas was born, 1839, Kensington and Agnes was born 1863, Chelsea.
They had three children;
Alice Agnes, 1887. Acton.
George Keith, 1888. Acton.
Arthur Cecil, 1890. Acton.
For what it's worth.
Leonie.
:D

Brentford is fairly near Staines isn't it? Could this will be relevant to your Thomas Hayter?
I have a will of a Charles Hayter, blacksmith of Staines, Middx from 1826, an image of which I can pm you if you pm me your email address. His children were Hannah, Elizabeth, Richard, Sarah & William.

Thanks very much for the offer Josey, but I don't think there's a connection.
I haven't followed that line as I simply don't have time to follow up every connection by marriage.
It's strictly something I keep on the back burner.
I offered the info here in case anyone was looking for this particular bit. I can then help with another connection to a researcher who is more into that line.
Very good of you to offer tho'.
Leonie.

Hi
Gene Genie - I'm interested in your links back to Augustine and Joanna Hayter at Sutton Mandeville (I'be tried to message you via your website)
EDO - We have your Jeremiah Hayter and his UK family (which could link back to Augustine and Joanna) on our website (He's in two trees, once for his UK family and also for his Australian family). Have you seen the book written about him as we would like to get a copy of it.
Have a look at our website if you like, and please get in contact
Thanks
Robert

I am curious as to the background of William Hayter Heath of Marylebone for the purpose of ruling out a relationship to William Heath, my ancestor born in 1838 or 1839 Marylebone. Do you have any Heaths in your Hayter findings? Thanks

Hi, I'm new here, researching various parts of my family tree. I spotted this thread and wanted to add my Wiltshire HAYTER link.
My great grandfather Frank HAYTER was born circa 1890 in Winchester, Hants but the family moved to Send, Surrey and he died there 1967. His wife was Annie Louise VIVASH from Lockerley, Hants.
Frank's parents were Charles HAYTER b1848 in Winterbourne Earls, Wilts and Mary KINGSTON b1856 in Shalbourne, Wilts. I believe his father was Charles HAYTER b 29 Oct 1815 in Pewsey, Wilts and his mother was Mary but that is tbc. His father was I believe, Thomas HAYTER b 14 Nov 1778 in Wilsford, Wilts and his wife was Elizabeth SPRINGBATT b 31 December 1775 in Pewsey, Wilts. I need to do some final checks on the earlier links but so far the information I've found matches.
Is anyone here linked to this line of Wiltshire HAYTER?
