Hi Carlson

I was looking for clues as to Eliza Dabb nee Pearce's parentage.

The 1851 census could help you...

1851:
2 Fords Row, Redruth

Frederick Wm DABB  head unm 24 mining accountant
Eliza Dabb  mother  mar 47 b Kenwyn
Edwin brother 16 mining accountant
Eliza Pearce Dabb sister 9 scholar
Vaughan PEARCE Uncle unm 40 clerk to the fire safety company b Kenwyn

So we have Vaughan PEARCE ( b c 1811) who is the brother to Eliza DABB nee PEARCE.

In 1861 Vaughan PEARCE is 50( merchant's clerk, b Kenwyn) and still unmarried living at Foundry Terrace in Mylor...he has a servant with him.

In 1871;
Foundry terrace, Mylor
Vaughn PEARCE head unm 61 merchants clerk now born Chasewater
Eliza DABB , transcribed as DALB, sister wid 67 house keeper

there is a death of a PETER Vaughan Pearce b c 1808 died 4th quarter Falmouth 1876.

I wonder if this Peter b 1808 is the same as Vaughan b c  1810

According to IGI:
Peter Vaughan PEARCE christened 10 0ct 1808 Kenwyn
Parents:  Stephen Pearce and Mary

IGI
Eliza PEARCE christened  8 oct 1804 Kenwyn
parents: Stephen Pearce and mary

It always amazes me when answers are found in censuses of some years later.

I have found quite a few relatives that way.

A brilliant piece of deductive reasoning here.

Hi again

I found Peter PEARCE in 1841..

He is 31, clerk,  living in St Clements Truro... his name is written as Peter but it has a Capital 'V' through his name ... could this mean he is Peter VAUGHN Pearce !?  ::)

I also found a Stephen HARVEY Pearce on IGI, christened in Kenwyn on  6 Oct 1800, parents ...Stephen PEARCE and Mary ...I wonder if this is a sibling of your Eliza DABB nee Pearce and Vaughn Pearce ?? If it is maybe his middle name HARVEY could be a clue as to the mother's (Mary) maiden name !

OOO .... IGI
Marriage:
Stephen PEARCE
Mary HARVEY
2 Sept 1797
Sancreed Cronwall
This info was submitted.

what do you think?

Hey,

I just found that too and wondered if Kegwin was actually Kenwyn Kris.

It may be Fizzy but by googling it appears there is a Keigwin also  :-\

Keigwin, a farming hamlet on the B3306 coast road between St Ives and St Just
census puts it around Pendeen

so quite close to Sancreed I guess and quite a ways from Kenwyn ???

Hi  ;D

I wish I could find Samuel and Mary (Harvey) Pearce in 1841.... it would be nice to find their parents too. They have to have been b c 1778...if their first child was born in 1800 ...but then again there could be earlier children. If there are other children, with middle names,  that may give us a clue to Mary HARVEY's parents.

Sure you would know more than me there Fizzy LOL I just googled ;D

I thought her father may have been Samuel but don't really know as we really don't have an age for them. (2 poss Samuel Marriages Kenwyn) There is a death for

Mary PEARCE Kenwyn 4 Oct 1821 aged 49
Don't see a likely Stephen 1813-1837 but he may have died before 1813

There is Mary Harvey PEARCE 17 Dec 1816 aged 18 years

Cheers Kris  :D

Stephen Pearce and Mary Harvey were wed in Sancreed so I was looking for her birth and parents there.

If that is marys death in 1821, then she would have been 1771/1772. Peter and
Mary's daughter was born 1766 Sancreed so it could be a possibility, especially as she called one of her sons Peter and a daughter Mary Harvey.

Hi

Where is Amos DABB(b c 1806) in 1851? Eliza DABB nee Harvey is living with her son Frederick .... she states that she is still married!

Amos is missing!

In 1861 Eliza DABB is still living with her son Frederick and his family (which has grown). here she states she is a widow!

there is a death for an AMOS DABB in 1865, Redruth vol  5c p 207, if this is him where is he in 1851?

ummm I didn't make sense in my last post ...sorry!

in 1851 Eliza Dabb nee Pearce states she is married, but Amos is not there . In 1861 she states she is a widow ... so he had to die between 1851 and 1861...

Well Fizzy I like your possible parents for Mary.

Peter HARVEY of Sancreed = Mary BODINNAR 3 Feb 1761 Paul.

Birth seems a little early if that is the burial so I have been looking for a later birth hoping 1766 Mary may have died. No luck. I didn't look any earlier than 1770 because of the death so missed her......Kris  :D

hi again

I need to find Amos DABB lol  ;D

I think this may be his christedning:
IGI
23 feb 1804 Kenwyn, age 1
parents: Amos Dabb and Betsey.

Kris and Fizzy ...I will leave you to the harder stuff.... :-\

So now I am going to look for Amos in 1851, born Kenwyn, c 1803. It seems that the earliest death there was for any Amos (who was around for 1841 census, but missing 1851) is the one I posted earlier in 1865.

I like to tie up little loose ends  ::)

Kris :

There was a Mary Harvey died Sancreed 1777 - no age or anything given but that could be the 1766 Mary I suppose.

Yes I saw that one too Fizzy but generally a child would list age and father/parents. Of course the burial I found may not be the right Mary. She could have died before 1813 even.  ::) Thanks to Deb's great work to get us on track in the first place, Carlson should be very pleased with the progress made here............Kris  :D

Hi Fizzy

You are making me more determined to find Amos! ;D

He is very, very elusive.... I think I may have found his parents marriage.
IGI
Amos DABB = Betsey BRAY
17 sept 1798, Kenwyn, Cornwall

I have BRAY's in my family...ummm , I wonder if we are related ? ::)

Also from IGI.... maybe Amos Dabb's (who married Betsey Bray) parents...
Amos DABB = Susanna MOYLE
14 feb 1763  (ahh Valentines Day!)
St Agnes near Truro

IGI: Christening
Amos Dabb 5 feb 1776
parents: Amos Dabb and Susanna

deb

Ps ... this does not bring me any closer to getting any chocolate hee hee
but maybe I could have a little bit for effort  :P

HI: Just reading the latest contributions about Amos Dabb, this is not the same Amos(born 23 Feb. 1804 he died prior to 1861) he was married to Eliza Pearce. The Amos Dabb who died in 1865, was born in 1849, son of Richard Dabb & Harriet Bice.
Quite obviously all the contributors on this line are researching either Pearce or Dabb. I have tons of Dabb info going back to 1565 if your interested.

Hi Carlson

Actually I have no association with either the Dabb or Pearce family. I, as was everyone else, were trying to find the parents of YOUR Eliza PEARCE, b 1806 Redruth.  This was your lookup request!!!

I think we found them for you.

Regarding : Amos DABB... well we were just trying to tie up a couple of loose ends for you.

Hopefully, we have answered your question regarding ... ELIZA PEARCE
