I have Stewart ancestors from the Perthshire areas (including Logierait, Newmill, Hutton, Kinclaven, Blairgowrie, Coupar Angus) who ended up in Dundee
If these places are familiar to your Stewart ancestors, please contact me and I can provide a list of names and dates to see if we have a match somewhere.

Hi,
I have a Jean Stewart from Perthshire - I'm struggling to find her baptism.
She married Alexander Ferrier in Perth in 1781. there's a possible baptism for her in 1759 in Longforgan on the IGI.
If you can help in any way, I'll be very happy! ;D

I am looking for information on Duncan Stewart born Rattray (Blairgowrie) in 1861. He married a lady known only as "Smart" in 1878 in Dundee, had three girls then emigrated to Pennsylvania, where James Stewart was born in 1880. The family returned to Dundee and over the years two other sons were born. James Stewart is my grandfather which makes Duncan my Great Grandfather.
James Stewart had 10 children one of them also called James (known as Jimmy). He was my father who died in 1963. Can you be of any assistance.
Thanks

Hi. I have a William Stewart living in Dundee who was born about 1717 and was married to Jean Adamson. William was a slater by trade and I think he was originally from Coupar angus and may be the brother of Robert Stewart b 1728 ish Coupar. He was also a slater as was his father john [m Margaret Brown] and Johns father Robert b 1676 from Kinclaven. William and Jean are both buried at the Howff but Robert stayed in Coupar Angus. Would you have anything on this bunch? 8)

Hi Pat,
I am descended from Duncan Stewart (father Peter) and Margaret Cramb’s daughter, Helen Stewart who was born in 1831 in Muthill Perth and died in 1832 in Musswellbrook NSW Australia and Alexander Carmichael born 1816 Crieff, Perthshire and died 1886 in Hamilton NSW Australia.
Duncan and Margaret had five children including Helen:
Catherine Stewart born 1929 Muthill and married John Carmichael (my Alex's brother). Catherine died 1904 in Camperdown NSW Australia.
Janet Stewart born c1834 Perth Scotland
Margaret Stewart born c1836 Perth Scotland
Isabella Stewart born 10 March 1842 Dunblane Perth
Margaret Cramb’s parents were Robert Cramb 1765-1832 Muthill Perth and Catherine Graham born 1759 Fowlis Wester Perth and died 1825 Muthill.
Robert Cramb’s parents were John Cramb b1737 Muthill and Helen Whyte or White.
Robert’s parents were Robert Cramb and Isobel Davidson.
I have the names and baptism dates for the siblings of those (Cramb) mentioned also, but far too many to list here.
Can you see any connection?

Hi Pam,
I know nothing at all about Peter, unfortunately. He is named as the father of Duncan Stewart on his birth/baptism certificate in April, 1800.

Hi
Mizarae and I share a common Stewart ancestor. Her ancestor John Stewart, son of James of Wester Gourdie, and who married Amelia Jackson, is the brother of my ancestor William Stewart, born Clunie Parish 1770, son of James Stewart of Wester Gourdie. I would love to be in touch.

Do you know the parents of Isabella Forbes from her death certificate? Were the twins, Janet and Annie, illegitimate?

Hi Makere,
I posted the online details of the OP for you posters to be aware of as you may not get a reply. However, it doesn't stop others corresponding with each other on the thread.
It's also worth considering, if any of you have further queries related to this thread, you can always start a new thread & if anything relevant is on here just post a link to the info.

John Stewart, born 1773 in Perthshire, Scotland. He lived in Blairgowrie, Perthshire where his children were born. He emigrated with four of his sons to Flamborough County, Ontario in the 1830s.
4X great grandfather Charles was his son. Charles married Anne Niven in Bendochy church a few miles from Blairgowrie. It is a rural area and the churchyard contains a lot of Stewarts so it is possible that our family were farmers in the area.
Charles went to Dundee where he became a mason. There was a mason in Dundee named Alexander Stewart who may have been his Uncle and who taught him the trade.
Charles and family emigrated to Canada in 1863 joining his brothers near Hamilton. John had died in 1856.

Hi russ.ocean,
By any chance did your John Stewart from Blairgowrie also have daughters as well as the sons? I have a John Stewart who married a May or Marjory Grant in 1799 in Blairgowrie. I have found 3 daughters and 2 sons but of course there could have been more....the ones I have are Jean b 1800, George b 1804, Eliza b 1806, Catharine b 1808 (my connection) and Thomas Andrew b 1811. All born in Blairgowrie. Does anything co-incide? Cheers

Hi
Sorry, that is all I’ve got so far

There are two Margaret Stewart deaths on SP with mother's surname Robertson and birth year of 1809 - you'd need to view the certificates to confirm or rule out if it is either of those.
1. Dunfermline in 1883 ref 424 / 73
2. Caputh in 1875 ref 337 / 11
-
Where is the best place to apply for death certificate if I only know possible birthdate of Stewart?
Thanks.
-
SP is ScotlandsPeople - the government department web-site. You buy Credits - it's not too expensive. If you know the locality of the death, approximate age or name of mother you can narrow it down.
STEWART MARGARET 73y ROBERTSON F 1883 424 / 73 DUNFERMLINE
(So her mother's maiden name was Robertson)
The Caputh one we have on file....
She was the widow of Alexander Stewart, farmer, and died at West Lodge, Caputh
She was the daughter of John Robertson and Janet Robertson (same maiden name) and the informant on the death certificate was Jessie Stewart, her daughter
Throth (borenich.co.uk)

That is great help thankyou. I can eliminate the Caputh Margaret Stewart now.
Can you possibly also help with a Donald Stewart b 1724 d 1800 - trying to track his parents? I beleive he married a Janet MacHardy Stewart.
-
You need to provide as much information as possible if you are wanting people to help -
Where was Donald Stewart born?
Where did he die?
Is there a headstone or an obituary?
Where and when did he get married?
Are you giving 'MacHardy' as a middle name or as a maiden name?
Are there registered birth / deaths of children?
