Hi, I know it's been a while since you posted this query, but hopefully you are still around somewhere!
Do you know the trade of your YOUINGS?
Are you aware that there is a confectioners/tobacconists called YOUINGS which has been in Barnstaple since the year dot.
I can furnish a few more details on the shop if you think it might help your research.

Hi,
Long time since this post. However, my grandmother was Eliza Jane Bushell, her parents Robert Cowell Bushell m. Mary Jane Snell from Barnstaple, then moved to Canton, Cardiff. Thus, three of the names of interest (Bushell, Cowell, Snell). I have a little information on the Bushells but would like to know more, i.e. they had a connection in Kent?

Hello,
Hope you are still about,? Robert Cowell is my Great Grandfather do you wish any information on this line

Thanks for that. I'm sure you will have some useful links/information! I'm interested in my Great Grandfather Robert Cowell Bushell who, with extended family shifted from Barnstaple to Cardiff where several of them were builders/bricklayers- built around Canton where my Grandparents lived. Some of them went for temporary work to Kent where they worked on the Maidstone Jail. An odd place to go from the west, but then the origins of the family name are clearly from Kent/Norfolk. My Great Great grandmother was Eliza Jane COWELL b1829 Barnstaple and m Benjamin Bushell b1807 in Barnstaple. My father (now 95) told me all this and remembered the stories of his grandfather before he emigrated from Wales to NZ. Any info on this family and its origins appreciated, many thanks!

Hello, Good to hear from you, worked out that we are cousins, so Hello Cousin,
Can you tell me what information you have on Robert Cowell Bushell, and also what information that you require from me as I have a fairly extensive tree, I am interested in what you say about some of the family going to build maidstone jail I have no knowledge of this and have not come across it in my research would love to hear details, regarding the family connections re Norfolk/Kent I have the Norfolk connection but researching the Kent Line I have doubts about that one, the dates does not seem to match at present with the research that I have done...
I am from Cardiff Glamorgan Wales what part of the World are you, and if possible can we exchange email addreses as it would be much easier to send info, such as attachment etc, so for the present may I say cheerio.
Regards John

I have a Reginald Frederick W Bushell but I don't know where he came from or anything about him. He married Amelia Moore (my Grans sister) in the early 1920's and had two daughters in Swindon Wilts.
