I've not been doing my research long, but Alexander Divertie and Annie Divertie (nee Laird) were my GGG Grandad & GGG Gran.
-
My Great Grandfather referred to as ("Dey" pronounced as the "Di" in "dime") was Alexander (Sandy) Laird Divertie. He is the son of Alexander Divertie and Anne Laird, they were married on 23/06/1855 in Pollockshaws CoS.
He moved through to the east coast to work on the construction of the Forth Bridge which is why there are Diverties in Fife.

Yes, I have that photo too, you probably got it from my mum who has the original.
My grandmother is Barbara (Babbie) and I can remember many of these people as great aunts and uncles in Inverkeithing. Eck, Annie, Jim, Nellie, Betty. I think that I had a a great aunt Meg but I can't put a face to the name.
I don't have any memory of my great grandmother Margaret, she died when I was about 18months. BTW I have her sewing machine in my front room.
Cheers
