Title: ELLIOTT of Knockando, Inniskillen
Post by: millmerrin on Sunday 29 April 07 12:06 BST (UK)
Hello from Australia.

My mothers grandmother was Lititia Caroline Elliott born Knockadoo Iniskillen  about 1831????? she migrated to Australia aged about 18 yrs and died 1930, buried at St Mathews, Bannaby, via Goulburn aged 81 yrs.(.Headstone) Letitia married Phillip Handley, son of George Handley a convict of England and transported to Australia about 1832.
My interest, of course is Letitia's family in Ireland if anyone can help?  Her mothers married and maiden name is unknown to me.  Of interst also is Letitia's brother, William Elliott who came out to Aus with her, joined the NSW Mounted Police.  He disappeared whilst out on some Police Patrol in the bush.  His body was never found.  Rob

Hi

I imagine it is Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, you are looking for.  This area was awash with Elliotts in the 1800s although the name Knockadoo doesn't appear against any of their addresses in www.familysearch.org.   This may have been a tiny townland or even the name of their house, so you may have to widen your search.

Hope this helps.
