Hi all,
Hoping that someone has the time to do a quick lookup for me please...
I know the Rookwood inscriptions CD only records inscriptions, not all burials, but would the following person be in the database?
Bartholomew HAYNES
d. 18 Mar 1881
buried 19 Mar 1881
aged 31 or 32
Roman Catholic (Necropolis)
He was my g-g-grandfather's brother, who killed himself with a razor to the throat :'( I would love to know where he lies, so I can visit him on my next trip to Sydney.
Thank you :)

Sorry, Prue, he is not on the CD. You could write to the Catholic Office, Rookwood Cemetery and ask for the exact location of his grave. You may find there is no headstone at all. Then, of course, it may be that the writing on the headstone was illegible, so could not be included on the CD.

Hi,
I have lots of relatives interred at Rookwood and recently had a "day out" visiting them and taking their photographs. As I live a few hours drive away I decided to prepare beforehand so contacted the different denominations beforehand to get as much information as possible. They gave me every assistance imaginable, to the extent that the info I gave them on my great-grandmother came back with the names of her children, their wives and her grandchildren who were all buried at Rookwood (I didn't know this, as they came from a country town and I assumed they were all buried in Western NSW).
The email contacts I have are:
Rookwood Anglican - administration[at]rookwoodcemetery.com.au
Rookwood Catholic - HHalloran[at]catholiccemeteries.org.au
Crematorium - info[at]rookwoodcrem.com.au Replace [at] with @
Happy hunting.
Arwon.

Thank you arwon, and Diana (sorry, I lost this thread :-[ ) - your help is much appreciated!
I have contacted the Catholic office before about another Haynes relative, and they have been extremely helpful, so I'll get in touch with them again.
Cheers

It may also be that he is not buried in the Catholic section, since he has committed suicide, so consider other possible locations.
