Hello,
I would appreciate some advice on how to continue with my Monmouthsire search.
I believe that my g-g-grandfather is William Alsop living with Elizabeth Hale (his mother according to the 1881 census) and her husband, George Hale in 1841 (Pontypool). He is about 7yrs in 1841, and there are two slightly older Alsop's in the same household, George, 12 yrs, and Martha, 9 yrs. It appears his mother has remarried.
The Parish transcripts (linked from this site) have some promising leads
1832 Baptism Trevethin: Martha Alsop d. William Alsop, Elizabeth Alsop, Abersychan, miner.
1829 Baptism Panteg: Geo s/o Wm & Elizth Alsop, Ynysgoy, miner.
1828 Marriage Trevethin: William Alsop, Panteague, Elizabeth Jenkins, otp, George Alsop, Mary Alsop.
(the Ynysgoy threw me for a bit, but I understand it's consistent)
William and Elizabeth seem very common names during this period, so I'm not "inking" these leads.
I've looked over the links/resources provided on this site - thanks a million to all involved - but I'm not sure how to continue at this point (I'm in New Zealand). Any helpful advice appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
BLA

looks like their marriage
Elizabeth Allsop(widow) mar George Heale 20/2/1837 at Llanhilleth - not one of the parishes covered by Mike John's site.

You could try the record office to see if they have any more detail. Contact info is on the link.
