Hi John,
I guess we have different families, mine come from around Combe Hay,English Combe & South Stoke areas.
The following address might be of interest to you, a researcher also doing MASTERS / EVES families.
I don't know if it's still an active address but it's worth a try.

I have just commenced researching Bambury (Ottery St.Mary, Devon - moving to South Wales around 1890) & Hallett (from Winsham, Somerset - moving to South Wales around 1870). There is a marriage link in South Wales.
There appears to be a "Salvation Army" context to the Bamburys and parts of the family went to Australia and Canada - which may be relevant. I understand that there may be family links in Birmingham from the 1930s (through a Vernon Bambury).
Other names that feature are MOSS, HOLE, TROBLE and PELIFANT (in various spellings) - all from Devon / Somerset.
I hope that I have provided sufficient for youto identify a connection. If this does link in with your findings, I can provide names, places and dates ---- but not on the chat room.

my mums family are HALLETT's, they originated from south west england I think...I don't know much about them or their history, only up to my grandad and his sister.

I have an Elizabeth HALLETT (b c 1783 at Seatown, Parish of Chideock, Dorset and died 22 March 1855 at Winsham, Somerset) on my family tree. I have no details about her parents or siblings but she married a Bernard GAPPER (1765 - 1841) at Chideock, Dorset on 27 November 1804). Their son Bernard (1805-1869) emigrated to New Zealand in 1842. Do you have any information about this Elizabeth HALLETT ?
-
Sorry I do not have any information on your Elizabeth.
-
My connection is a William Hallett m to Keturah Phelps in Pembroke. Keturah died in Cornwall 1851.
