Hi Listers....
I'm trying to locate the LDS census film for the 1901 and 1911 for the Town of GOREY Co. Wexford
I ordered the LDS Film No: 0852489 1901 census.... it was a census for Gorey however it did not include the town of Gorey.....
A further search of the LDS library catalogue to identify was unsuccessful....
I would be very grateful for any help with this problem....
In anticipation
Fingal

Hi Dee
Thank you most sincerely for your reply.....
Having looked the information you so kindly provided.... I had a fresh look....
This is what I found.... The Parish of Gorey (Town) is:- Kilmakilloge
The Townland is the:- Town of Gorey
Perhaps you could have another look to see if this will help you to help me...
I have struggled with this for quite some time....
Many thanks

Hi Fingal. I've had another look now that I have an actual place. I'm a bit outside my comfort zone with Wexford (I know Mayo inside out) and I'm not familiar with the Barony, townlands etc. Anyway this is what is showing for 1901 & 1911 Census films for Kilmakilloge. You say you ordered film no 852490. You will also need to order film no 852491. With regard to 1911 Census its split into townships and rural. Do you know where your ancestors lived? In the meantime, I will check a few other sources to see if I can find further info for you. Have a look at this and tell me what you think. I will try and get an answer back to you sometime today. Happy hunting.
Dee

Ok Fingal, here's how I read it. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Townland Barony Parish Poor Law Union
Gorey Town Ballaghkeen Kilmakilloge Gorey
Gorey Town Gorey Kilmakilloge Gorey
So which part of the Census are you looking to review? Is is Gorey Town? I do hope I have understood this correctly. Look forward to your comments!!!! If it's Gorey Town then you would need the film nos for the Urban section of the 1911 Census?

Hi Dee
Thank you kindly for taking an interest...
Its the Town of Gorey.....
I have 2 address's in Gorey Town... I need to check the 1901 and 1911 census
I cant believe it has been so troublesome..... my interests are with Redmond and Doyle....
I have no wish to abuse your kindness... I also have a problem identifying the census for 2 address's in South County Dublin.... if its not an imposition could you help with this? I can let you have details...
The librarians are extremely helpful at my local LDS FHC however they have no experience of Irish research...
Many thanks for your help...
Sincerely Fingal

Hello again. I think (and this is my personal opinion) that for the 1911 Census you would need to order film nos: 2105081 & 82, but I will leave that up to you. These are the Urban census. There is also a website:
www.leitrim-roscommon.com/1901census. This has part of the 1901 Census for Wexford. It's not been completed yet and I'm afraid there is no info for Kilmakilloge. There are plenty of Redmond's and Doyle's for other areas though. Follow the links and have a look.
With ref to Dublin, I have no Census info for that area but I suggest you put a posting on the Dublin board. Someone will be able to do look ups for you. Give them plenty of info to help in the search. I'd be very surprised if you didn't get a reply.
Anyway, I hope some of this helps you and in the meantime I've had a short history lesson today searching Wexford. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Fingal, I'm assuming that you have all the Griffiths Valuation info for your Redmond's and Doyle's, but just in case you haven't, here it is. Just type in surname and click in Leinster.

Hello, would anyone be able to help me contact Fingal? I'm trying to find information of Brennans from Finglas and noticed that Fingal also has this as an area of interest.

Hi Kristof, Welcome to rootschat
If you click on Fingal's name you'll see that he hasn't been on the site since October so may not see your message.
You can send him a pm (personal message) but you'll need a couple more posts on here before you can do this.

Hello,
Thanks for that, i didn't realise that there was a minimum number of posts before you could pm someone. At some stage i'll post a thread just about trying to find any links to Finglas Brennans. That will either bump up my number of post or perhaps attract Fingal's attention (when they're next on).
Thanks,
Christopher

Fingal may still be receiving email notification about this post so will know that there is a message.
Alternatively one more post on here from you would do it!

True, i hadn't thought of that, thanks for the heads up. We'll see if another post is enough to allow me to pm Fingal.

Hi Kristof and welcome to RootsChat.
I suspect it's Finglas in Co. Dublin you're looking for?
You might do better if you open a new topic on the Dublin board.
