Hi All:
Can anyone help??.
I am looking for the marriage of my GG Grandfather George Suggitt.
I have discovered that he cannot be found via BMD, as have had several certificates, and all are for the wrong man.
It is believed he married a Sarah Ann Whiteley, and his first known child, Cecilia Jane Suggitt was born on 29th May 1860, and her birth certificate clearly shows Sarah Whiteley as the mother.
George & Sarah were living in Sandsend at the time, so am hoping that this is where he got married, but as it is so close to Whitby, does it follow that the marriage would be registered there?.

I see from 1861 census George was born Maltby, and Sarah Barnsley, the marriage could have taken place there, or if living near Sandsend they could even have been married in Guisborough reg district, although Whitby is more likely. Will have a look for them.

Thanks for your time Barbara.
I hope I'm not wasting it!.

Hi Andy,
Did Cecilia's birth cert give Sarah's name as 'Suggitt maiden name Whitely', or just Whitely, just wondering if they actually got married at all ??? Or could be Lythe parish registers and missed off GRO register
Checked all bmds 1851-1861 under all spelling variations, nothing likely, sorry.
