The Scottish Sunday Mail (sister paper to the daily record) edition for tomorrow 15th April is advertising 20 free credits for use on Scotlands people in every edition.
-
And it would appear you don't need to buy the paper the get the credits as the code is published in the on-line version!

Is there a code you need to put in Trish or does it just automatically come up for everyone.

Mariac

Wow thanks it works.
Sadly still can't find my Emily Jane Colvill but at least I now know she wasn't born in Scotland.

Thanks for the info.

Hello Falkyrn,
Thank you for telling us about the 20 Free Credits available on 'Scotland's People'.
We have just redeemed our 20 free credits (valid for 90 days)

Another very satisfied customer. Thank you Falkyryn.
I will now look more carefully in future.
-
Cheers Falkyrn!! Every little helps as they say ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sueh2
Emily Jane Colvill could have been born in Ireland. I am looking for McColville's in Northern Ireland but they are a bit thin on the ground.
-
Another satisfied Customer, and with thanks to ankerdine for help with code
Sybil
-
Ankerdine,
Well Emily Jane doesn't seem to be in England or Scotland or Wales so I suppose Ireland could be next. She is certainly leading me a merry dance as I try to keep thinking of another way to solve her mystery.
Sue

That's just how it is, a typical detective story. I go to bed at night trying to sort out all sorts of possible solutions! I do sleep eventually though.
I still have a great number of queries but I am sure I will solve them one way or another eventually.
Good luck with your own personal quest!

If you cannot find the code (enigma machines not needed) will you be able to find your family? ;D ;D
(says she who had to read the article 3 times)
And could I add an extra large thank you to Helen (aka NellW ) without whose link none of us living outside of the circulation area of said paper would have found the code
Trish
-
Could I also add my thanks :)
I only read the thread last night when I got back and I've already used my free ones - for a good RC cause mind :D :D :D

Migky, You'd probably be well advised to post your request as a separate new thread rather than hidden in this Free SP Credits thread!*
But, if you haven't already done so, do register with SP (free), get the free credits and follow up on SP. A free SP surname search finds the following"
BELLAMACINA - 3 Statutory Register marriages, and 3 deaths
PAGLIARI - 1 SR marriage, 1 death
NATARANGILE - no results (you could try with wildcards)
Incidentally, Free Credits folk, has anyone tried to get the free credits more than once :o Could we all do it again and again and end up with hundreds of free credits ...
JAP
*Note - Moderator Boongie Pan has kindly separated the request out.
-
I was wondering about that, JAP, and have just tried it. It says, voucher can only be used once :(
I suppose one could register under a differnet e-mail addie.
Gadget

Hi Gadget,
Good on you for trying. I was too chicken - felt I'd be embarrassed if found out :-[
Yes, you are no doubt right about using different email addie(s) - but what a lot of effort that would be (though it might be fun!).
One does wonder whether SP (and the newspaper) realized that the promotion would quickly go round the world via the Internet. Ah well, if they didn't they deserved what they got!
Cheers,
JAP

Think when you register as a new user that you have to give details like home address.
-
But if you lied? (why isn't there an evil emoticon!!)
Cheers,
JAP
-
So if you've used Scotlands People in the past, you can't get the free credits?

Creative imagination is all it takes - not lying - I usually revisit my childhood (age variations) and live in the best suburbs of Sydney ;D ;D - I do this for the insane websites that demand your life history before telling you if they have the information you are seeking!! There do seem to be a couple that demand you live in a state of USA so I tend to use California as that is the only state for which I know a couple of zip codes.
Trish

If you have used them or if you haven't - if you follow the instructions on the link it tells you to sign on OR create an account

I think that you might be described as a canny Scot, Trish :o :o :o
I feel that I've invested my share (and more) in SP and it would be nice if they could give us a 'heavy user' or 'faithful customer' voucher once in a while.
That might be one for Imber to follow up :)
I wonder how much the Sunday Mail will have paid for the deal?
Gadget

Liz, Oh indeed you can - once. As all of us long-term SP users have done.
Trish, Thanks.

I was reading in another place of folks suggesting the family pet as a new user ;D
Thus said, I think we have all enjoyed our 20 credits and will no doubt buy many more - my creative imagination is used for what some folks call "privacy". Talk of same rather bores me to tears, but I like to keep the spam away from my main mailbox & joining new websites can be an invite to 1000s of unwanted emails. Hence they get my alter ego until I am happy with their treatment of users.
Trish

Thank you so much, Falkyrn, for your post regarding free vouchers to SP.
I just tried it from Canada and really was surprised that it worked - now I can complete a couple of things I always wanted to go back and check but didn't have quite enough credits to do so.

I'm really having a senior moment today as I said on another topic. I thought the search wasn't working, even though I had added the free credits. After some while, I managed it and then found I already had £24 credit!
