Hello! I have an Anne Stagg b.1815, in Montacute, on my Ryall family tree. In the 1881 census, she is listed as the aunt of Henry Ryall, my gggrandfather. That is all I know about her. Maybe you could tell me more?

Hi AnnieR
I have an Emma Stagg in my tree born about 1815 she married George Pippard 19 8 1833, I cannot find any more info about her at the moment, but I am going to send for the parish records of \Montacute from the LDS ( we have a local branch near me and they send for them from Utah) they keep them between 1- 3 month and you can go and look at them.
I will see what i can find out , if you need anything specific please let me know. I do not know how long they take to get here , I will pop in tomorrow to order them.
have you checked the website called
Rootsweb.com/~Cotswold/MONTACUTE51.htm
this is the 1851 census for montacute , it is really good

Rose, I have had a good look at my data on the PIPPARD/PEPPARD's from Somerset and have been unable to find George born about 1812.
Mystery that one.
If I find a connection I will let you know.
In my tree I have
William PIPPARD born 1757 married Elizabeth (Betty) TAYLOR in 1782
Children
Charles 1783
George 1792 (right age to be your Georges dad)
James 1791
John 1785
Paul 1788
Good hunting. David in Perth.

Rose.
Have just had a look at my records again. There is a George PIPPARD christened 4 Feb 1816 in Norton Sub Hamdon. This is only one and a half miles from Montacute. His parents James and Priscilla.
Emma in 1861 is a widow living with her children and her sister Lydia. In Montacute. On the free BDM site there is three George PIPPARDS listed as having died between 1851 (where he is a plasterer and tiler) until 1861when his wife is now a widow.
Good luck

Hi Freda your Thomas is not a connection of mine. Going backwards this mans family can be seen in the 1901 to the 1861 census (except 1871).
1901 living in Somerton born 1849, wife Louisa, son Samuel and daughter Alice. Thomas is a retired postman
In 1891 living in Somerton, wife Louisa, daughter Alice, son Charles. Thomas is a Rural Postman
You probably know them in 1881.
In 1861 unmarried Thomas is at home with his parents in Somerton this household has Charles born 1819, Montacute, employed as a carrier, wife Laura born 1821 Bristol, daughter Caroline born 1856, daughter Elizabeth born 1860, daughter Mary born 1859, daughter Prudence born 1847, son Robert born 1852, son Samuel born 1843 and Thomas born 1849. On this census Thomas is said to have been born in Somerton
The nearest I have is Charles born 1807
Good luck

Just got another 'Stagg' (this family history is such a lovely, ongoing mystery!). Thomas Stagg, b.1782, had daughter, Hannah Stagg, b.1819, glove maker, married James Ryall, b.1822, stone cutter. They had 4 sons and 1 daughter. Names? All registered at the Townsend Baptist Chapel Private, Montacute. This info came from a generous person on the Stagg genealogy list. If anyone can inform me as to what the Townsend Baptist Chapel is would be most grateful. Also, of course, for more info on Ryalls and Staggs. Thanks.

Hello
I have recently discovered that my great, great, grandfather is a Samuel Burt Pippard, born 1882, from Somerton. I understand that his elder and younger Siblings were called Nell and Robert, respectively. There is presently no information on their father's name.
Rosie, David, Freeda, is there any chance this ties-in with your information in any way?
-
Here you go, from Charles Pippard down to your man.
Charles Pippard born 1819 Montacute married Laura Baker, born 1822 Bristol. They wed in Longport (reg District) June 1841.
Amongst the children they had one Robert Pippard born 1853 in Somerton, he moved to Bristol where he met and married Susan Brooks in June 1874. Susan was born in 1855 Bridgewater.
They had several kids including your man Samuel Burt Pippard born 1882 in Barton Regis.
Should help I hope. I have not made a connection to the old chap Charles born Montacute, although I am sure all the Pippards would be connected in some way in that village/town. I have George Pippard born there in 1813, father James, mother Priscilla.
All of the above are in my research notes and are only my conjecture, IGI and census resources.

Hi David
Thank you so much for this incredibly useful information! This would definitely appear to tie-up with my family line.
I wonder how far back the Pippard family line goes, in the village of Somerton?
Best regards
RP
-
Hi David
One more question if I may:
I have established that the Charles Pippard (born 1819) is in my family line. He is so far the furthest back that I have been able to trace, thanks solely to your incredibly kind help so far.
May I ask, have you been able to establish who Roberts' parents are, and where they might tie in with the earlier family line which you mention previously?
I would be so grateful for any more information which you might have.
Thank you

Hello David,
This is my first time using the roots chat room, but have seen your posts quite a few times when searching on google..I am interested in William Peppard b1757 in Montacute, Somerset as I am researching the Pepperd family in Westonzoyland. Does William in you tree have any connection to George Peppard b abt 1781 living in Westonyzoyland in the 1841 census?
If you have information that would be wonderful...the IGI has very little on this area of Somerset
Thanks Claire Pepperd

I have a whole lot of Pippards on my famiy tree from Montacute. All descendants of William Pippard 1733 and Elizabeth Taunton. My Pippards include nearly all the names which have been mentioned in this thread. If you would like a copy of the tree, I can send it to you. It is on a Genes Reunited site and Ancestry.com but I do not know how else I can send it, except by sending you a document listing all the Pippards in their different generations which I can get my Legacy program to print as a Word doc.
My connection is through Susanna Pippard who married Thomas Chant of Odcombe and thence down through the Burts of Odcombe, which is the next door village to Montacute.
-
Hi I have Julia Pippard who married a Genge - I see you are interested in that name and Pippards. My ancestor was Susanna Pippard who married Thomas Chant - she was Julia's aunt. I have quite a few Genges on my tree if you are interested in having a look. If you are on Ancestry.com it is on the Quemby Nov 08 tree, but this tree is not up to date. I shall be putting my latest gedcom from Genes Reunited on a new tree on ancestry soon.
I also have info on a lot of Pippards on that tree.
Cheers
Angie

Hello,
I am the great Granddaughter of Victor Robert Pippard and I have managed to trace that side of the family back to George Pippard 1812 - 1857 and his wife Emma Stagg 1816 - 1906, I have also traced Emma's mother and father as well as her father's parents.
However, I am now stuck trying to find George's parents. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Daniell

Dear Dennis
Your email address has been deleted due to the moderator taking it out as an anti spam precaution. You can find my tree on Quemby tree NOV08 on Ancestry.co.uk. OR Ancestry.com I think. if you are on Genes Reunited you can find me as Angela Quemby and if you send me a message on there I can allow you to look at my tree. I dont know about William Ford, I have nearly 4 thousand people on my tree and I have not looked at it recently, too busy. THe Ancestry tree may not have him on as I have not updated that for a while, must put it on my list of things to do! I will have a look now at the GR tree and if I can glean info from that I will send you a further note here.
Best wishes
Angela
