I am trying to find the marriage of my grandparents George Parker born 21st June 1879 and Annie Hurry born 2nd December 1889.
My father George was their first children and was born in August 1917.
I am also trying to find the marriage of Annie's parents (James) Robert Hurry born in Norwich, Norfolk ((25/3/1864) and Emily Wright (21/5/1865).
I have found the family living in Ilford in 1891 - and the Wright family living in Back Street, Barking back until 1861 and John Wright, Emily's father still living in Back Street with his parents in 1851.

I just wondered how you know that Emily Hurry's maiden name was Wright? Do you have children's birth certificates showing this? It's just that I have been looking for a marriage for Emily and (James) Robert Hurry and nothing is showing up. I found all their children's births so I wondered if you had one of the certificates showing mother's maiden name to be Wright.

Yes I do have a birth certificate for James Robert Hurry and it does show Emily as being Wright before marriage.

There is a James Robert HURRY marriage record on Free BMD - Sept Qtr 1889 in West ham..no mention of Emily Wright there - could be just not listed yet...
There is a death for an Emily HURRY aged 32 in Romford 1896 - then a Robert HURRY marries 1898 also in Romford. I wonder if there is a connection?

The marriage is December qtr 1889 - not September and on checking the full GRO index there is no cross match to an Emily Wright in that quarter. That particular marriage was between James Robert Hurry & Sophia Esther Rust (checked on 1891 census)
However - what is not included in the opening request is that Robert Hurry had 4 children on the 1891 census - the eldest was born c 1883 in Essex so the marriage must have taken place before that date. If that info had been included - we would have known what years to look in!

In your opening message you are saying that James Robert Hurry MARRIED Emily Wright. However - Emily Wright would be his mother on his birth cert
Are you referring to the birth cert for his son Robert who was b Ilford Essex in 1887?
This is the 1891 info for Ilford - all b Ilford Essex apart from Robert snr

In 1901 - Emily is not in the household but Robert is shown as married
