I have found what I think to be my relation, who emigrated from UK with his family in 1871 to Toronto, in the New York, Niagara census of 1910, 1920 and 1930 he is listed
Robert Roberts b1870, wife Annie or Fannie b c1879, daughter Elizabeth b1905, brother in law William Slater mentioned.
Elizabeth married Walter Gormely or Gormley in 1929 there was a son Charles b1926.
How do I go about finding marriage certificates for Robert Roberts or Walter Gormley, is there any way I can find out if there are any living relations that could help, or indeed any websites that I can check out, I live in the UK.
Many thanks

If I had to take a guess, I would say Charles is not Elizabeth's son. In the 1930 census, Charles is 6, and Elizabeth and Walter have been married one year. In the 1920 census, Walter is married to Minnie, and also has sons Franklin, 6, and Donald, 4. I would assume Minnie, Franklin and Donald died and left Walter with young Charles. I can't find the three in the 1930 census.
I have found a few possibilities for living relatives in the directories on Ancestry and I will send a PM.

Thank you so much for that, I will get letters off straightwaway, yes I agree with your assumption regarding Charles. We are actually visiting Niagara in September (Canada side) but wouldn't it be great if at least one of these Gormelys were related.
I will let you know the result.
Many thanks

Enjoy your trip in September. The Canadian side is beautiful. Hopefully you can get over to NY state to do some research on the family while there.
Best,
