I am investigating a long held family tale that we are related to Cyril Bentham Falls. His father, Sir Charles Fausset Falls, was a partner in the firm of Falls and Hanna, solicitors of Enniskillen and, for a few years, MP for Fermanagh. I am trying to trace Charles's father Henry Falls also, I believe, a solicitor and his siblings (A marriage announcement I have shows Charles as being "youngest son of Henry Falls").
As Charles was born in 1860 all the family were born prior to registration of births so I am looking for guidence on where to go?
Any suggestions or help greatfully received - especially a full family tree in GEDCOM format ;D

Would there be any connection to Falls family in Aughnacloy? A James Falls, solicitor, died there in 1850. Also have a few other death notices for Falls, Aughnacloy.

The problem I have, one of many, is the link between the two families. As Charles is the youngest son the link could well be that William Thomas Barlow Falls, my great Grand father is his older brother. Unfortunately William went out to the Empire (Straits Settlements), but, on his daughters death certificate (she was an Anglican nun) is shown as a doctor of medicine.
I believe that Henry Falls also practiced in Enniskillen, someone spotted the name in a directory - probably became Falls and Hanna at a later date.
I may well be digging a very big hole for myself ???

Having done some checking (Irish parishes are new to me) Aughnacloy appears to be the next parish so there could be a link. I've also rechecked "Who Was Who" and Charles was the son of "Henry Falls of Fallsbrooke, Co Tyrone and Kentfield, Co Dublin.
Help ???

Hiya Tim,
I spotted your RootsChat message while doing some googling.
The message below is in reply to your query on the enniskillen.com genealogy board.
The Henry, solicitor, of Lower Dominick Street, Dublin is probably the same Henry who lived at Kentfield. James is most likely a brother or a cousin of Henry.

Hiya Tim,
Welcome to enniskillen.com message board.
The Public Record Offie in Belfast has the legal and business records of Falls & Hanna, solicitors, Enniskillen, 1613-1950. (http://www.rascal.ac.uk/collection/?ff=no&CollectionID=658&ff=no) A huge collection of some 50,000 documents, the Falls & Hanna Papers are a significant resource for the Fermanagh area containing material of relevance to its major families, businesses and local politics.
There's also a Charles F. Falls document at the Public Record Office. Charles Fausset Falls was an MP for Fermanagh and Tyrone from 1922 to 1929.
Cyril Bentham Falls (1888-1971) (http://www.ulsterbiography.co.uk/biogsF.htm) is mentioned in the Dictionary of Ulster Biography. He was born in Dublin and educated at Portora Royal School. Cyril (http://www2.belfasttoday.net/somme/page08.pdf) was the eldest son of Charles Faussett Falls and Clare Bentham. His father was an Enniskillen solicitor.
There are several people named Falls listed in Shaws 1850 Dublin Directory which is on the website of Trish Loughman, Dublin, Ireland © 1997-2006
Henry, 7 Lower Dominick St (solicitor)
James, 47 Marrowbone lane (general smith)
From the Law Directory (not listed at stated address)
James, 7 Lower Dominick St (solicitor)
James O'Neill, 69 Capel St (solicitor)
Robert, 59 Upper Dominick St (solicitor)
I think at least one of the Dublin families may be related to the family in Enniskillen as it was quite common for solicitors in county towns in Ireland to have an office in Dublin.
