Born out-of-wedlock in Northamptonshire in 1855, Owen Chester Holliday was apparently left with his grandparents when his mother and her eventual husband, and the children from this marriage, emigrated to New Zealand in about 1870.
Owen married Mary Ann Wheeler in 1876 in Culworth, Northants, and they had two children: William (1878) and James (1880), both born in Leicestershire. None of them, however, appear in the 1901 census. Might they have also emigrated to New Zealand, or perhaps Australia, but at a later date. To pursue this further would welcome help and guidance.
