hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could help me locate any trace of my greatuncle Walter Coombes. In the 1901 census he is at at my childhood home at 2 Beach rd Eastbourne Sussex aged four with my granddad who was eight and their parents,Richard James Coombes and Jennie Francis Coombes, after that i can find no trace of him, though there was a story that he emigrated to Canada, though i don't know if there is any truth in this.
Would be glad of any help people could provide,
Thanks Gerome.

I am not sure when your ancestor went to Canada, although in another posting you indicate that you have found a possible passenger list for him.
There is, however, a record of a Walter James Coombes who served in the Canadian Armed Forces in World War One.
Sadly, it looks as if his Enlistment Forms are among the few that have not yet been scanned and posted on the Archives Canada website, but you can at least have a look at the index entry here:

Good luck with your research.
Kind regards
