I've received the death cert today of my gt.gt.grandmother Mary Ann Everett (nee FOOTER).
She died in 1926 in Hopton of an accidental fall. It appears there was an inquest to conclude it was accidental.
Can anyone help me with how to find if there is a newspaper story for this.
She died 16/7/1926 aged 81, inquest was held 19th.
Many thanks for any help or advice on this.

Are you able to get to one of the Suffolk Record Offices? It is more than likely that the relevant newspaper is available and given that you have the date of the inquest it shouldn't be too big a search. The RO will undertake research if you are not able to get there in person.
Hope this helps,
Chris

Many thanks for your reply.
I have now resolved this. I tried one of the offices and was referred to another, then a library and finally had success.
I was able to obtain a photocopy of the newspaper report.
A bit long winded and round the houses but I got there in the end!

Were you able to get a report from the East Anglian Daily Times ?
or Lowestoft Library/SRO ?
Just interested :D

Hi
I got it from Thetford Library and it was in the Thetford and Watton Times.
From memory the previous place I tried did search that one for me but there wasn't anything in it.
The librarian there, a Jean Archdeacon, was very helpful. All by email!
The copy was £2 and arrived within a week, even over Easter.
Diane :)
Just found the other e mail, Norfolk Studies Libary checked, Eastern Daily Press, Norfolk Chronicle, and Diss Express.

Thank you for the information, always useful to know these things ;D
I suspect your Jean is my Local History Recorder for the parish of Gislingham.
With best wishes, SM ...

I have hardly touched on my Suffolk lines.
I was just trying to tie up people with death certs. So I was lucky.
Both Mary Ann and her husband Robert died in the same year and quarter aged 81.
You would have thought from old age! Her from the shock of the fall and him from Cancer.
So my Footers and Everetts, will be looked at more closely soon
