Hi All. Is there anyone out there who can help me trace my grt,grt gran birth record. She was in the 1881 census(TNA reference RG111139Folio44 page4)Shows George Pragnell (sic)and Pollie(possiblya pet name for Rosina) with 3 children Rosaline(14) clara(11) Ada(9) Sarah(7), Ada by the way is my grt granma, i was recently able to get a copy of my grt grans birth certificate Ada Ask, so being able to find out my grt,grt grans maiden name which was on the certificate & that being Leary, she had herself named Rosina ,Pragnell, late Ask, formerly Leary, now i do know that she was never married to any of these gentlemen, she was born around 1842 to 1843 as she was 38 yrs old in the 1881 cenus & i believe from Portsea or Isle of Wight that may have been born, her daughter Ada was born 1873 in the district of Portsea Address being 8 Chapel View , Portsea this is from her birth certifacte I also believe that she ended up a Pauper in the Island Workhouse in Portsea. Hope some one can help.
Kind Regards. Leslie Webster.

Hi there
I have found a birth on freebmd for a George Pragnell ASK, SEP qrt 1865, registered Portsea. GRO ref: 2b/365
This is likely to be another child of George and Rosina?
My view is that Rosina and George are a bit older than stated on 1881 census, backed up by the info supplied by Allibaker.
There is this marriage which could be Rosina's first marriage, also found on freebmd:
Rosina LEWRY, JUN 1855, registered Portsea - GRO ref 2b/651
on the same page there is a William ARK (could be transcription error!!)

and these could be the children of Rosina and William Ask
William, MAR qrt 1856
Catherine Eliza , JUN qrt 1857 (with George and Rosina on 1871 census as Allibaker)
Alice, SEP qrt 1859
my feeling is that William ask died sometime between 1859 and 1865 and probably you may find Rosina under as Rosina ASK in 1861 census, but I don't have access to that one, sorry.
Good luck with your research
Graham
