I have an 1881 reference for 2 brothers Harry b1862 and Charles b1863 said to be born in Wales as per Census 1881 - living in Higher Shepton, Shepton Montague, Somerset - Source RG11/2399 F/10 P/14
I plumted for this lookup request in Glamorganshire as I know there are a few Vallis families around and about...so am assuming that they are related somehow.
Could someone be kind enough to see if they are on the 1871 please?? (could be under Valles/Vallens/Vallace etc...)
TIA - HiFly

Can't find Harry or Charles in 1871 Welsh census (or England come to that)
However a birth for a Charles Vallis was registed in Merthyr Tydfil, Q4 1863. Vol 11a, page 383

Still trying to trace the parents of these two via Census lookups if possible:
Have since found the following references for Harry (or sometimes he is called Henry):
Census 1891 - listed as FELIS
Residence Penmark, Glamorgan, Wales
Source RG12/4405 F/79 P/18
Census 1901 - Residence Gilfach, Glamorgan, Wales
Source RG13/5022 F/116 P/21
Census 1911 - Residence 6 John St, Bargoed, Glamorganshire
Source RG14 / 32417

Hi,
On the 1871 census there is the following family which could be linked to your question or totally wrong :(
James Vallis, age 54, Ag Lab b. Shepton Montague
Louisa Vallis, wife, age 56 b. Bruton, Somerset
Harry Hiscox, visitor, age 9 b. Shepton Montague
Charles Hiscox, visitor, age 7 b. Newport, Wales
Living in Lower Shepton - RG10/2427/9/9

On the 1861 census for James and Louisa Vallis (Living in Higher Shepton) they have a Martha Hiscox, visitor, occupation servant also a Sarah Hiscox age 2. The name Hiscox is transcribed as Hixon - RG9/1151/7/8
So I do believe there is some connection with the 1871 census of Harry and Charles as per my previous post and the above household.
I hope this is of some help. :)

Rather convenient gap between William and Ada where a couple of sons could fit quite nicely?
