Title: Richard TROW
Post by: janmac on Saturday 24 March 07 10:14 GMT (UK)
I have Richard TROW born c 1811 -1816 in Churchstoke.
His marriage to Elizabeth JONES  nee  COLLINS is in 1841.
The Certificate states that Richards father is John TROW a farmer.
A witness is Joseph TROW.
I need help to find which TROW family this is.

The 2 Richard Trows who come up in an initial search of 1841 both seem to be married- although relationships are not shown.

However there is a Richard Tron (indexed) but this looks very like Trow in the actual.

Thanks for prompt reply.
The 1841 Census you quote certainly appears to be the Richard TROW I,m after. He married Elizabeth later in that year.

The John/Jane family certainly looks like them .Perhaps Richard is the first born. 2 of his children were George and Aaron which is not conclusive but everything else seems to fit. Thanks again.

Janmac,

I don't suppose your Richard Trow had a daughter called Alice (born 1847)?

Hi Jan,

The info I have for Alice is born 27/02/1847 @ Big Drilth, Churchstoke (though I do have to get the certificate to confirm this).

1871 - Working as a servant (for Thomas Tye) and living at Greendingle, Gwenthrew, Sarn.

1875 - Married Thomas Tye at Newtown.  Father: Richard Trow (deceased) Labourer.  Witnesses were Thomas Trow and Sarah Jenkins.

1881 - Living at Birches, Sarn, Montgomeryshire.

1885 - Died at the Union Workhouse, Llanwnog (which we think is actually Caersws Workhouse).

Thomas Tye was my Great Great Grandfather and Alice Trow was his second wife.  Thomas's eldest daughter (from his first marriage) married John Trow (my Great Grandfather) a year after Thomas & Alice married.  So far I haven't found a link between the 2 Trow families.

Nikki.

Hello again,
I have a hunch that we are talking about the same Richard.(b c 1816 )
My research is on behalf of a TROW family in NZ.
Richard's marriage to Elizabeth JONES in 1841 says that his father is John TROW a farmer so I think he must be son of John /Jane in Churchstoke, but still trying to prove. There are gaps in the Churchstoke register so think this is the reason it is hard to find his baptism.
As well as Alice he had Aaron, George, Oliver and I will check if there are more. Elizabeth is a widow in 1851 I think he died c 1850.(Freebmd)
This also ties in with your Richard deceased.
I will pass your info on and see what develops but it looks promising.
Thanks again
Jan

Hi Jan & Nikki

The Trow's are certainly very complicated, aren't they?

However, Jan your mention of a Trow family in NZ caught my eye.  I can't remember if I've already been in contact with you about this or not (memory is awful!!!), but I have Trow rellies in NZ.

My GGG Grandmother, Jane Trow born Mochdre, had two brothers Thomas and David who emigrated to NZ.

Their parents were Reuben Trow and Martha Davies.  Reuben was baptised in Kerry, and his siblings were Mary, Stephen and Isaac (there could be more).

Reuben's parents were James Trow and Mary Griffiths.

Any connection?

Another Jan ;) ;D

Hello again,
Yes we have talked before but I have not been able to establish a connection between these 2 families.
It seems the TROW that I know in NZ originates from John/Jane TROW in Churchstoke married c 1818.
However always open to suggestions.

Hi All
;D I'm new to this website, and this is my first post ;D

Can anyone please help me?

I'm a little stuck, at the top of my Trow tree I have a:
James Trow born 1805 Kerry Wales
Married to Margaret  born 1807 (unsure of maiden name)
Occupation: Jockey
Noted parents: Jane Trow ???

My Trow family moved alot, usually from wales to shropshire and back again

Could James be a relation of Richard Trow?

Does anyone have any more information on this side of the Welsh Trow family?
