Hello, i haven't been here for a while so i hope no one minds me popping in to ask for more help... I'm looking for Olivers. I think William Gibson Oliver was born in Sunderland, in about 1875, i'm wanting to know if he had any siblings as i can't find any. His father was Edward Lawson Oliver who was born about 1842, and all i know about his wife is that her name was Betsey and she was born about 1852. Any help, as always, is greatly appreciated. many thanks.

A strong possibility
Marriages Sep 1874
Oliver Edward Sculcoates 9d 276
either
GIBSON Betsey Sculcoates 9d 276
or
ARMES Sarah Ann Sculcoates 9d 276
Regards
Valda

There is a marriage 1874 Sept ¼ Sculcoates 9d 276 of a Edward Oliver. There are two women on the page one is a Betsey Gibson. Betsey Gibson born East Halton Lincolnshire father's name was William Gibson. Could be just a coincidence. You could get the birth certificate of William Gibson Oliver and find out for sure. 1875 June ¼ Sunderland 10a 719

He is living with his parents in 1881 aged 6 and in 1901 aged 26, no sign of any siblings

Hi everyone,
Here they are in 1891, but still no siblings ..
1891 census:
RG12/4150, folio 102, page 36
Durham, Monkwearmouth Shore
15, Mulgrave Street
Edward L. Oliver, h. mar. 47, Ship Rivetter, b. Durham, Bishopwearmouth
Betsy, wife, mar. 37, b. Lincolnshire, East Beldon
William G. son, 16, b. Durham, Bishopwearmouth
I think it's most likely Betsy was born in East Halton,
Lincolnshire, as Janis stated - judging by the earlier census
returns.
Kind regards,
Pels

Thankyou all who has helped me out with this lot, its been a huge help. Now i'm wondering if anyone can help me out a bit more?... I'm interested in finding out who Edward Lawson Oliver's parents were. I know his father was William Oliver, born about 1805 and that he married an Anne who was born about 1811, but i don't know Annes maiden name or anything else about her. Can anyone help at all?

The 1851 census has John J Oliver as one of Edward Lawson Oliver's brothers (it is indexed as John F Oliver, but is clearly a J).
John Jackson Oliver b Sep 1837 Sunderland
This seems a good possibility:
IGI: William Oliver m Ann Jackson 3 May 1834 Gateshead
Richard

Some baptisms at Bishopwearmouth St. Michael:
William Atkinson Oliver 4 March 1839 s/o William and Ann
William Edward Oliver 24 July 1835 s/o William and Anne
John Jackson Oliver 14 Sept 1837 s/o William and Jane
My fiche transcript does say Jane however I know of several instances where the name Ann has been written down as Jane when I know the mother was an Anne
