Elizabeth Atkinson is a pupil in a Convent in Mill Lane, St Mary, Richmond, Yorkshire. Born Seaham about 1860, age 11.
This is next door to the Richmond Workhouse.
Reference RG10; Piece: 4874; Folio: 97; Page: 26
Other Atkinsons on the page are
Anne Atkinson 13
Jane Atkinson 14
Kate Atkinson 11
I don't suppose even seeing the image would give you an answer as to whether the other three are related, although Jane appears to have the birthplace "Scaham" probably Seaham mistranscribed. The other two were born Newcastle On Tyne.

Hi phrishy yes please would you send me the fuller details of that census. Looks like i won`t find out where the Atkinson comes in but one never knows, i might be luckey ;D Thank you very much. Gladys :)

I've amended the entries above.
I would assume that the Atkinson name comes from Sarah's previous marriage.

My gut instinct is that the first Thomas is Sarah's daughter but the girls are the children of George and Thomasina, but all possibly related here somehow.

Sorry, without proof of parentage via certificates I'm getting a bit lost, seems you will need to confirm a few facts probably starting with the marriage of Elsdon before we can make enough headway. If indeed the Sarah in 1871 was Costello before he married her then maybe her father's name will help a bit.
-
Gladys,
I have a baptism for Thomas Atkinson 15 March 1858 at Seaham Harbour St. John son of Thomas and Sarah Atkinson.
I believe the marriage of Elsdon Heron and Sarah Costello was at Newcastle Cathedral of St. Nicholas in 1870.

Hello phrishy, Janis & jacqui i don`t know where to start ;D first off those are the only Atkinsons i have with phrishy doing my look up jacqui but will keep a look out for your Atkinson. So with Janis sending the baptism for Thomas we know now his parents were Thomas & Sarah Atkinson in 1861 census 29, Walworth St South Bishopwearmouth Durham, and Sarah her age and place of birth fits in with the 1871 census Elsdon`s wife in Longhurst. Ralph Heron in Longhurst was Elsdon`s brother which i have all the census . I will have to send for the birth certificate for Thomas Atkinson and the marriage certificate for his parents to see if that puts me right with the Atkinson. Then where does Costtello fit in. ??? phrishy you have done wonders with all that you have picked up for me and i do appreciate your help and thank you Janis for your kind help as well. I will let you know when i get the certs back. I have the marriage lines for Elsdon Heron and Isabella Dawson what i copied off parish registers quite some years back, Elsdon must have had a 3rd wife as on his death it said his wife was Mary in 1910 which i got that out of the paper. Thanks ever so much. regards gladys :) :)
-
See what you get when you throw hints out like that!
1901
9 Shiney Row, Wallsend, Northumberland
Elsdon Heron Head M 68 Coalminer Wasterman North Shields Northumberland
Mary Heron Wife M 47 Newcastle Northumberland
RG13; Piece: 4796; Folio: 46; Page: 37
Elsdon Heron married September quarter 1898 South Shields 10a 1269 - Mary Dryden is one of the names listed.
-
Hi phrishy your a star as i don`t think i had the 1901 census so that is another marriage certificate to send for. I have just got those other two ready for posting which i said i would let you know.( Atkinson) Aye, i do see what i get for throwing hints out but i didn`t think of it like that ;D Thanks ever so much. Much Appreciated. Regards Gladys :) :)

Gladys,
I ordered the Elsdon Heron/ Sarah Costello marriage cert. I wonder why she is written as Costello if she was an Atkinson at the time?

Can only assume that there has been an Atkinson/Costello marriage, although she seems quite young to have managed to fit in yet another marriage. This is why I'm interested in what her father's name was, hopefully to identify her maiden name, then you might have to search for Maiden name - Atkinson marriage, then Atkinson - Costello marriage, whew!!
-
Hiya Janis you have ordered the marriage cert for Elsdon Heron and Sarah Costello as i have got mine ready to post so will i leave that and get a copy off you and then i can send one for Elsdon Heron to a Mary ;D Its phew all right. Let me know as i haven`t been to the post box yet . Regards Gladys. ;D
-
Hiya phrishy my head is in a whirl with all the names ??? i would like to find out as well who Sarah`s father was, sorry i didn`t reply to you as well. Its my age you see ;D ;D Regards Gladys.
-
Hiya Janis i am posting my marriage cert today for Elsdon Heron and Sarah Costello, thought i would let you know, can`t wait to see who her father was :) Regards Gladys.
-
Gladys,
I ordered that one ealry yesterday on line. You are not allowing for the 6 hour time difference for me to answer a post. You will probably get yours afore I get mine as mine has to cross the pond.
Janis
-
Okay Janis mine went this afternoon , it doesn`t really matter does it ;D Gladys. :)
-
Okay my cert came in today- not bad getting on the 26th when I ordered it on the 22nd and it had to come across the pond!!
11 July 1870 Elsdon Heron, full age, widower, miner, married parish church of St. Nicholas, county of Newcastle on Tyne, son of Thomas Heron coal winder and Sarah Costello, full age, widow, father John Costello, Smith. Witnesses William Heron, Alice Heron. Elsdon made his mark and Sarah signed.
Looks like Sarah did not use her former married name when the marriage was registered.
Janis
-
That's a good result! Glad it's clarified that it was her maiden name, you really need to check for a Costello/Atkinson marriage now too, although I don't suppose this would be so necessary to your tree.
-
Good morning Janis and phrishy, by that was quick coming from across the watta, amm still waiting for mine probably the day or the morn and waiting for Thomas Atkinsons birth cert. At least we know now Sarah was married before so will look for a marriage for Sarah Costello and Thomas Atkinson ;D Regards Gladys.
-
Hello, still no certificates and i can`t find a marriage of Sarah Costello and Thomas Atkinson and i put a request in on rootschat but nowt. ??? Gladys.
-
I cannot find her in the 1851 census either.
Janis
-
Hello Janis its a strange carry on with some of these folk, may be she wasn`t Costello ;D when i do get the certificate back for Thomas Atkinson it will tell me the mother`s maiden name, hoping ;) Gladys
-

I did post a letter to the registrar at Durham for a birth certificate last Thursday for Thomas Atkinson so dear knows where that went so i will do it again, i know i don`t need to put Atkinsons on my tree but its wanting to know Sarah`s maiden name ;D ;D Get some laffs. Gladys.
