Hi Tracer,
Can you be a bit more specific please - do you have the area of London, assume you have birth certificate?  If so will be on that.
There are about 14 references to Broad St London and that is just within the city - could not find them there.  There were 53 Broad sts all up on the London census - so really could do with more information.
Thanks Cougar

Hi, Thanks for that. All I have is Mary Ann Lupton's marriage certificate, showing the marriage took place in 1854 at the Parish Church of All Hallows, City of London (her father was a John LUPTON, described as a 'Merchant') and that she was living in that parish at that time. It says on the census form (1881 that she was born in 1831 in Broad Street, London) Should I be looking in Middlesex?
Still confused. ???

Middlesex it is..............but you might have misread the address as she is in BREAD STREET in 1841...........Bread Street is still there, in the shadow of St Pauls Cathedral (Broad Street unless their is more than one is by Liverpool Street Station)................not by looking at any map, I used to work all round that area, and yes they are still there!

Thank you very much. Just as a matter of interest: Mary Ann went on to marry a John Hodder NEEDELL from Dorset. She became a novelist and wrote sometimes under her maiden name and sometimes her married name. She was once reviewed by Gladstone. Most of her stories are drawn from her experiences in London.
