Can anyone help me find emigration record for Leonard Rusby, born 1794 in Penistone, Yorkshire. We believe he emigrated to the USA around 1820's, believed to be on the ship Nancy which travelled to Pennsylvania. He appears to have married a Elizabeth Redman in USA, she was born 1805 in England, so we are also looking to find out if she was on the same ship with him, or followed later. When in England Leonard was married to a Hannah Dalton, they were married on 7th September 1812 in Penistone, Yorkshire and we know of 3 children they had, one being my gggrandad. We cannot find any trace of Leonard in England after 1820. His wife Hannah was living on her own with one son in 1841 census, but not listed as a widow. Colleen

I've found him -
Leonard Rusby, arrival date 4 Aug 1820, estimated birth year 1796, port of departure was Liverpool on board the Nancy. Its in the Philadelphia Passenger Lists for 1800-1945, so I assume he arrived there. There were only aboiut 20 people on board during the journey, but no Elizabeth Redman.

Elizabeth arrived in New York in August 1832. The ship's name is Ship George ???anning (according to the database, New York 1820-1850) and she was 13. No departure port is given.
The following Redmans were also on the boat on the same journey, so I assume they are her family -
Eleanor Redman 55yrs old
Jeremiah Redman 40yrs old
Eleanor Redman 2yrs old

thanks for the info, but it is not our Elizabeth Redman, as they had their first child in America in 1822. Perhaps she did not come from England, I am just going by what other people say, perhaps she was born in America and he met her there. Do you know whether Leonard was accompanied by anyone on the ship? Many thanks for the help you are giving me. Colleen

I don't think there were any other Rusby, and it doesn'y say if he was, unfortunately.

Would it be possible for you to tell me the names of the other people, I would really appreciate this, they could be relatives to Leonard but a different surname, and I could possibly recognise them. Don't worry if you can't. thanks Colleen
