Post by: GWENDOLINE on Tuesday 20 March 07 12:30 GMT (UK)
I would be grateful if someone could look up the 1851 census for Hannah Gosling aged 6 Kempsford. I am trying to determine the parents names the father is Robert but am not sure which is the mothers name.
The marriage would be the next step once I can find mums name

Sorry for the confusion over the name Robert, it was Henry I was meaning.  This Robert  was in fact Hannah Goslings husband Robert Hayward.

I did find the other Henry Gosling and different wife, of Ann but still another Hannah of the same age .  I think this where I cannot determine which Hannah Gosling I am dealing with.   The Robert Haywood/Hayward  brother in law also is a spanner in the works, as this would mean that possibly Ann Gosling was a Hayward and as you can see Haywards also figure in the family tree.

Sorry to contradict you but the following correction may help someone:

John and Phoebe Gosling are actually at Ham Lane, Kempsford in 1851.

Hi,

I have been tracing my family tree and my g g g grand father is a William Gostlin (b 1821) who was born in Kemspford.  Looking at the online christening records I have determined that his parents are James and Sarah Gosling.  Whilst looking for William I discovered in the online christening record that he had a brother Henry Gosling (b 1818), who had at least four children with his spouse Rachel (Sarah b 1842, Hannah b 1845, James b 1850 and George b 1862).

I determined that there were two Henry Gosling's born in Kempsford within a few years of each other but different parents.

Even though my family name is Gostlin, the middle name of Henry has been present for at least three generations starting with Williams Gostlin son, the coincidence of dates and a sibling of Henry is toooo strong and I have concluded that "somehow" William Gostlin changed/adopted name from Gosling.  William Gostlin/Gosling moved to Slimbridge and there is evidence of burial record of a Henry Gosling (14 day old baby), which I again concluded to be Williams son (further evidence making me conclude that William and Henry are related).

Regards

Alistair
