Hi
I was wondering if anyone knows where I can look for any information on the Barginall family from London. Most of the information I have so far relates to them being in the St George in the East area and most have been Watermen, Lightermen or working for the Thames River Police.
I have found a fair few on Parish.com
I have recently found two more:
Valentine Barginall, marriage to Joseph Newell 17 Sep 1727 Allhallows London Wall London.
Leonard Barginall, Baptism 3 July 1763 (Note: 9 days old), Father Leonard Barginall, Waterman. Mother Margaret. Address, Pennington Street.
I'd like to know more about these two new ones, if possible, just not sure of where to go from here.
The thing is that I don't know where they "fit in",( if you know what I mean).
The earliest "Barginall" I have is James born c1783 who married Ann Wilson on 2 Feb 1803 at Saint Dunstan Stepney London.
Please can anyone help me with this, I'm getting a bit desperate now.
Thanks,
Mary :)

Hi Reyz
Thank you for that, it was kind of you.
I do have that one. Joseph was my 4x great grandad.
I found Valentine Barginall's marriage on Familysearch.org and can't find her anywhere else.
I seem to have hit a brick wall with this side of my family.
Thanks
Mary

Hi Mary
I, too, am looking for Barginall ancestors. My great grandmother was Christianna (nee Barginall), daughter of James & Elizabeth. She raised my dad., his younger brother & sister. His name is Bill. He knew her as Nanny King & she was known locally as the Duchess of Wapping. My dad is now 99. For such a rare name they are hard to find the roots of!
Just wondered how you were getting on with the search?
Best wishes

Hi Bernadette,
It's great to have contact from someone else researching the Barginall family :)
I recently found lots of info, including Leonard Francis Barginall's Thames Police Pension, where it describes his looks... I found that very exciting.
I have also come across s couple of Barginall's from the 1700's, but am not sure where they fit in..

That's amazing! Did you find Leonard's information from a particular site?I am intrigued by where the family name comes from. It seems so rare & unusual. Have you ever researched using the Guildhall library?

I found Leonard's info on Ancestry UK. I too would love to know where the name originated.... I've only ever found the older generations in London/Middlesex. I am curious to know if you've been in touch with Patsy Tune? She is descended from Christiana :)
