Trying find location of St Andrews Church. Married in 1879 I have the marriage cert for Frank Hardy and Eliza Johnson, but can't find the church. Hardy was from Barr Street which still exists in Aston, but Miles Street I cannot find. I am guessing it is not St Andrews linked to Birmingham football team as this is along way from where the families were from.

Hi Leelou,
A sister of my great grandfather was married at St.Andrews church,Bordesley in 1877.There is a church in St.Andrews street close to the football ground ,don't know if its the right one though.
Some of the streets or roads in Birmingham no longer exsist due to being demolished for the building of roads etc.I cannot find some of the streets my ancestors lived in and was told this is probably what happened to them.
Hope this helps or points you in the right direction.

Thanks
Visited Aston, Birmingham, where my relatives used to live last month. Many streets were flattened for the new road system in the 1960's. Some names are the same, but are actually different locations the the original roads. I have a page of a 1960's a-z for Aston if this is the area of your research.
louise.

There is a list of Birmingham churches here:
http://www.bham.de/index_churches.html
It lists two C of E churches named St Andrews. One, consecrated in the 1840s, was situated on a triangle with Sarah St & Ada Rd in Bordesley, since demolished. (The other is in Handsworth and wasn't built until the early 20th century.)
I've checked on Streetmap.co.uk and found Sarah Street. It is by St Andrews Street. Ada Road is apparently there, too, but I couldn't see it on the map.
Bordesley was part of the parish of Aston.
Have a look here:
