I have no names at all.

Yeah its a little more general than that Bob, I'm sure the relatives will recognise their parents or grandparents.

But thanks for looking and I will start with those two you pm'd me.

Hi a huge number of Ballard family emigrated to OZ in late 40s /early 50s from the Kent (UK) area . They were last known to be in the Newcastle area and had something to do with a boating lake . I have travelled to Newcastle from UK and placed ads but have had no results . Does any of this fit ?

Hi Reneecharles

Welcome to Rootschat

I am not related to anyone with that surname, but I can help with the likely name for the boating lake, and with some contact details for various family history groups in the Lake Macquarie area.  I presume you are writing about the late 1840s and early 1850's when many migrated to NSW from the UK. There were many emigration schemes, and by the early 1850's many migrants paid their own fares, seeking their fortunes as there were gold rushes in the colonies.

I think the boating lake would be Lake Macquarie ...

There are many local newspapers, covering various suburbs around the several districts that border LM.
There's also family history groups eg

Hello
Just a thought, but why don't you try   www.whitepages.com.au  residential search for contact details of living relatives Australia wide.
I would start with surname Ballard, you may get lucky and find a continuous male line from the 1920's.

Good luck!

Hi, The following site makes referance to an area of Lake Macquarie and early settlement families. It also refers to a Ballard family at Eraring a southern Lake Suburb. Hope it helps.

My Great Grandmother is Sarah Irene Boulden nee Ballard. She married Roy Boulden.
One of their sons was Albert Sydney Boulden who moved to Auckland NZ around the 50's.
He married Dorothy Elizabeth Wymer and had 3 children
Mark Boulden, Karen Boulden, and my mother Debra Anne Boulden

Roy and Sarah had another son Roy Jr and lived in Homebush NSW in 1949.

Sorry, I have not done any thing on this line for a while.  :-X

the connection is Ethel YATES, Sarah's mother.

A number of the YATES moved to New Zealand, so Albert would known he had cousins there.

The main researcher on this branch is a bit in and out, but maybe he will get in touch.

So cheers country ? cousin, and hopefully the other researcher will be in touch soon.

In case you didn't have this, Ethels parents were William James YATES (born Madras 1836) and Sarah INSKIP
