Hello,
I'm looking for the death of Henry Rose who was born in 1856. On the 1901 census he was living in Tarbock, so his death could have been registered in West Derby or Prescot as the family eventually finished up in Widnes. I have found one on the BMD in 1914 but the age doesn't match. He must have died here as his wife and one son that I know of finished up in Perth W. Australia.

You say he must have died in the UK as his wife & son emigrated to Australia. Have you seen the passenger records to confirm that Henry wasn't with them?
When did they emigrate?

Thank you for your reply. I assumed that Henry died before his wife and son George Spencer Rose emigrated, as his wife Sarah Ellen Atkinson Rose died in Fremantle, W. Australia in 1951 but no mention of Henry. George Spencer died in W. Australia in 1978. As Henry is on the 1901 census in Lancashire it would seem that he died before his wife emigrated.

Have you established exactly when Sarah & George emigrated from passenger records?
Sarah was 40 in 1901 so was around 91 if she only died in 1951.
That's a 50 year span for emigration purposes so Henry could have died anytime in those 50 years.
If your assumption is correct and he died before Sarah emigrated - it will better help pinpoint his possible year of death if you check their date of emigration. The following is a pay site but may help in your search. However - at the moment, lists are only available up to 1909. Over the coming months, this will be extended to later years
