Hi there,
Can you give us a bit more info here - what information do you already have e.g. age, birth place, occupation. This might help in the search. When was he in Wilton for example. Might I be able to find him on the 1851 census? I've already checked the BVRI2 with no luck and there are no entries with that spelling on the 1881 census.

This looks like Edward in 1871...Can not c any Byrchall (Or similar) in 1851 Wilton or Milton! His age looks like 36 Im not sure but I think it is 56.... no wife present... the only other Byrchall (That Spelling) is Ann a 50 year old widow b Warwick in a lodging house in St Geo Hanover Squ

Dear Cardiff, Nell & Kris
Many thanks for your prompt and informative responses
I wish I had had the opportunity to pick your brains 18 months ago. The information you have given me confirms my own research with additions Edwards 1840 marrage. I will send for a Marriage Certificate to authenticate the information and perhaps extract further info from the document, witnesses etc.
Ann Byrchall is totally unknown to me but she will be researched, perhaps she is a sister to Edward?
The Budden Marriage is also new to me. It's interesting as I have a certificate for another wedding for Edward Butler Byrchall containing a reference to Edwards occupation as a BUTLER. The Ladies name in this case is Anne Atkins Married !851 Hanover Square. I have found no other references to either of these spouses but I will keep looking.
Edwards marriage to Teresa my great grandmother . She is well documented up to her death. Edwards daughter Lucy probably married a Michael Kirby but details of the marriage are missing. Eliza, Edwards other daughter is my grandmother.
It is possible infact highly likely that there are other children or he was not the man he appears to have been . Possibly 5 wives it's unbelievable
I am left with tracing Richard, Edwards father and the family connection with Wilton
{Milton does not exist M and W just look similar } Researching !760 to 1870 .
Richard is stated as farmer on one of Edwards Marriage certificates
however the parish church records for Wilton do not contain references
to a Richard Byrchall. However the name Edward is mentioned but it is not MY Edward. The period 1760 to 1870 is of most concern to me.
That's It Friends, I will look up the Moonraker site Thankyou Cardiff
I hate these nicknames but sadly they are necessary.
Thanks again

All sounds absolutely fascinating hope u have some joy with your research but I do have to say my 51 census does list both a Wilton and a Milton in Wiltshire and I could find noone of this name or similar in either ??? ??? ??? (being an Ozzie I cannot confirm this)but ..........................and I did just have to wonder bout Ann since one of these marriages possible partner is an Anne when we have a Ann as a widow 50 years old in London....She could not be his sister!!! as she is a widow but she could be his sister in law or..................in my mind she could be his wife lying about being a widow :-X (Did I say That) anyway here r the ref for the 2 parishes in Wiltshire!!!!!
WILTSHIRE 1851 CENSUS
MILTON 1851 CENSUS, Wiltshire,
H.O. 107/1844
WILTON 1851 CENSUS, Wiltshire
Includes Ditchampton, Bulbridge
H.O. 107/1848
certainly appear 2 b 2 separate places to me!!!! 2 diff Piece numbers totally diff names in each parish but alas no Byrchalls in either.....
Hope u r not 2 confused.... Kris ;)
