Title: Grandads Army record Decipher

Could some kind person help me decipher these 3 pages of my Grandads Army record please I know he joined up in the kings TA then tranferred to R.A the Finally the Norfolk regiment .Trying to make sense of the bits in between
I Have a crossing the line certificate 1943 stating he was a Bombardier I like to know when he was promoted and when and why he was demoted and can you help me decipher the rest its killing my eyes lol.

part 3. Forgot to Say family rumour told by two uncles that my Grandad was in the chindits does anybody know if any of the regiment he was in were part of the chindits.

Try this website should give you all the info on the chindits.
Looks like he went out to Far East as A Royal Artillery Gunner 13 AA Brigade
And spent a bit of time in Hospital.

22/05/41 Attached HQ Northumberland Division fap (for all purposes) as Private.

24/06/41 Leave.

01/12/41 Transferred to RA 101 Light Anti Aircraft  Regiment as Gunner.

8-17/12/41 Leave.

15-24/12/41 Leave.

01/02/42 Posted to 98 Light Anti Aircraft Regiment as Gunner.

23/01/43 Posted to Depot RA as Gunner.

16/02/43 Embarked for India as Gunner (May have been made Bombardier for draft travel purposes only, hence the rank on the certificate).

26/04/43Disembarked Bombay.

27/04/43 Arrive Town of Mhow as Gunner.

30/04/43 Posted to 58 RC (Reception Centre) as Gunner.

10/08/43 Posted to 77 Light Anti aircraft Regiment as Gunner.

06/11/43 Attached 13 Anti Aircraft Brigade (286 Battery, 77 LAA Regt) as Gunner.

19/01/44 Leave.

10/01/44 X listed to Hospital.

04/02/44 SOS (Struck off Strength) X List on discharge Hospital.

10/03/44 Reclassified Class 2 Scale D. Ineligible for further service increases. Placed under Hospital stoppages.

10/04/44 Attached 13 AA Brigade fap as Gunner.

08/04/44 CBTA (ceased to be attached) 13 AA Brigade.

11/05/44 Reclassified Gunner Class 1.

15/06/44 awarded  39/43 Star or Burma Star and/or  (may mean 39/45 Star).

10/09/44 From 77 LAA Regt attached to 2nd Batt Royal Norfolk Regt as Private.

20/12/44 SOS X List.

07/03/45 SOS X List transferred from RA to R Norfolk Regt as Private.

10/04/45 Left Theatre Operations to Kalyon? Transit Camp for Class A leave SOS India Command.

26/10/45 Embark for UK on Winchester Castle.

13/02/45 Disembark UK and released to Y list.

If he was with the Chindits you may need to find his unit which may be 286 Battery, 77 LAA Regt, 13 AA Brigade.

Hope this can assist you in starting to research the rest as their are some unclear areas.

Would suggest you contact RA Museum Woolwich to see if they can assist further. They have E mail and WWW sites.
