Hi Dez
I have some extracts from the Cranbrook PRs and this may be of interest
Marriage 10 Feb 1834 Charles Larkin to Sarah Dadson
Witnesses John Larkin and John Waters
This seems to fit with the 1841 census information - oldest child of Charles and Sarah aged 7.
Will see if I have anything else - unfortunately the baptisms I have only go up to 1805.
I am fairly certain there will be a link with my Larkins.

Thank you very much Barbara , I have not done much research with my Larkin line . This information is greatly appreciated.

It may be worth asking for a look up for Charles' baptism on the Kent Request Board. If we can establish who his father was I can probably get you back a bit further.

Hi Barbara,
Re John Best and Ann Stephen Turner, I think there could be more children born to them after William 1785.
Eyensford baptisms
Parents John and Ann BEST
Ann Stephens 1787
Margaret 1789
James 1791
Benjamin 1796
There is also a Tree with REBECCA BEST born 1794, parents John Best and Ann Stephens Turner. They have her marrying Thomas MACE abt 1814.
Ann died 17/3/1813 according to this.

Yes, there is a baptism Rebecca Best 28 Feb 1794, parents John and Anne at Eynsford.

Anns parents;
Richard TURNER 1721-1787 and Sarah TAYLOR 1724-1798
Trish ( off to make a cup of tea ;D)

Hi Dmartin
My mother-in-law was a Dunmall born in Erith in 1903, her name was Mary Ellen. Her parents were Harry Dunmall and Clara Evenden. Any connection?
Chhers Carol.
-
Hi DMartin
Think we may be connected as you have 2 of my names in your list.
My great great grandmother Sarah Dunmall bp. West Wickham 28/9/1806, dau. of James & Ann. She was one of 8 children. George, the eldest, I believe married and lived at Erith. Harriet married a Sargeant and her daughter married George's son. That is off the top of my head as I haven't that tree to hand at present! :(
Does that fit in your tree at all?
Regards

Hi There,
I am currently a LARKIN (soon to be a POLL :-[), Charles Larkin was my 3xGreat Grandfather I understand he married Sarah Dadson and had Children (not too sure how many yet) one was called Frank Harper Larkin I am a decendant to him. I was going to take a trip to Cranbrook to have a look through the parish records and look for Charles' gravestone as I live 25 mins from there. Any information will be fantastic - the LARKIN family is quite a mystery to me!
Many thanks
Sarah

Hi Again,
I have also found Charles Larkin had John & Elizabeth Larkin as parents (John was born c1778), which would fit with the witness at his wedding. By the looks of my source, John was married twice to Ann also.

my Larkins came from Benchley in the 1800s. Did any of your change their name to 'Thomas' as a surname, some of mine did and I can't find out why.
-
Hello Rosemary
I am aware that some of the Larkin family changed their surname to Thomas when they emigrated to Australia. I think, but will need to check, that Thomas was the surname of one of the Larkin brides.
I have not found a connection with my branch of the Larkins yet!
I think we may have corresponded about this many years ago?

I don't know if anyone is still interested in this, but I'd been doing research for a woman looking for her birth father and it's led me to the Larkin's of Cranbrook, Kent. If anyone would like to swap information I'd love to add it to her family tree. She is a descendent of Stewart Albert Larkin who married Agnes Smith in Aldershot, Hampshire.
