I'm trying to find siblings of Charles Broomhead b. 1824 Not been able to find his birth. His father was George Broomhead b .1784
I have looked in the Sheffield Parish Records and cant find either for a birth.
In1846 Charles was living on Jessop St and was married to first wife Mary Ann.
The family seemed to live in the Ecclesall Bierlow area of Sheffield.
I have a death certificate for a George Broomhead d1838 Coldwell St Both father and son were Razor Smiths so no help there!!
I would really appreciate any suggestions on how to find the rest of George's family. The IGI does'nt help either,I'm not hitting a brickwall just solid concrete!
Thanks to anyone who can help

Have you got census records? They should give a place of birth. You then need to look at all the local churches to see if you can find baptisms, including non C of E ones. The IGI is not full coverage so you will need to get the films of each parish to search at your nearest LDS centre if you cannot get to the local record office. If they are not actually in Sheffield then spread the area out a bit. Good luck!

Hi Audrey.
Before 1845 the majority of Sheffield baptisms took place at the parish church which was SS Peter & Paul later the Cathedral.
These records are only available at Sheffield archives as the LDS were not allowed to film them by the then Dean of Sheffield. The BT's which have been filmed are fragmentary.
S&DFHS have a disc of the transcribed burials from 1752-1812 but there is still a gap between 1813 and 1837 when civil registration began.
See www.sheffieldfhs.org.uk

Hi Audrey.
Have you checked Bradfield or Ecclesfield St Mary's.
I found some of mine in St Pauls, Pinstone St,
Baptisms at the archives for St Pauls are from 1767-1937
Kind Regards

hi Tuppie
Thank you for that.I thought St Paul's records came under the old Parish Church of St Peter &St Paul together, but if they have separate records this is a possibility. The family lived on The Moor so its feasible that this would be the nearer church.Thank you
