I am trying to research the Weitzel name from Germany. I have Ebrhardt Anton Weitzel born about 1804 who came to England as a Baker about 1837. He was Naturalized in 1841 and died in London in 1890. His father was Ebrhardt Weitzel but I'm not so sure he ever came to UK as his name is from the son's marriage certificate. Any help would be great.
Is there anybody else researching the same surname as it is very rare in England ( only 58 Weitzel's on the 1891 census) would Love to hear from you!

Hello MGraham
These are not my own relatives, but I have been helping friends with their family history. The Ehrhardt Anton Weitzel you refer to is their ancestor.
I have a copy of his naturalisation papers which show he was from Rhienish Prussia (ie Rhineland Palatinate) near the French border. This territory was acquired by Prussia from France after the Franco-Prussian War.
I believe I know who his parents are but can't prove it. Happy to compare notes.
My friends are descended from his son, also Ehrhardt Anton.
Hope to hear from you.

I'll look forward to getting in touch soon. I see I need to make 3 postings before I can send pm's (this is only my second posting).

Mel,
I can tell you Ehrhardt came from a place called Kirn, near Koblentz.

HI IT WITHERIDGE AGAIN, COULD YOU CHECK WITH YOUR FRIENDS AS REGARDS THE SON EHRHARDT, AS FAR AS I CAN SEE
HE DID NOT HAVE A SON EHRHARDT, HE HAD SONS GEORGE, EDWARD, THOMAS HENRY, AND CHARLES AND ONE DAUGHTER
MARY ANN , ON THE 1871 CENSUS HE GAINED ONE MORE SON FREDERICK, COULD YOU ALSO CONFIRM THAT IT WAS
MARYLEBONE THAT THEY LIVED
BEST REGARDS WTHERIDGE.
