Would SKP lookup 1841 census for John Colbeck/Colebeck/Caldbeck.
He was born 1788 Whitehaven, so would have been approx age 53.

Sorry Victoria, couldn't find it. There are a couple born in Yorkshire around the same birth year, and living in Yorkshire. But I couldn't see any either born in or living in Cumberland.
Somebody else may be able to find him with better eyes than me, you never know.

Hi Rosemary,
Would you let me have records of ones in Yorkshire.
The person I am helping with this research says John was born in Whitehaven, but some of her other links to John came from Yorkshire.
John Colbeck was a tailor by trade if this helps.
My friend has a record for a John CORBECK

Hi Victoria,
Can't find a JOHN of Whitehaven, however I found these and I'm not sure if I'm not muddying the waters. ;D

There's also an Isaac CELBECK and family in the 1841 census, also born Whitehaven but he's a Stonemason, could he be Esaw's brother (religious family?)
Address: Parton,
Reg Dist. Whitehaven
Hope it helps.

Thanks a lot.
These Coldbecks` belong to my husbands ancestors.
Esau was a twin to Jacob born 27/09/1797.
James was son of Esau.
Isabella is direct link daughter of Jacob.
There are also two Isaacs` who I have never been able to find.
One born 1719 Gosforth the other 1794 St James Whitehaven.
Isaac was brother of Esau.
The one you found could be one of them. I would appreciate 1841 census record please.
The surname was spelled Caldbeck/Coldbeck/Colebeck/Colbeck. The later as it is today.
The person who I was trying to help was searching for John Colbeck born 1788 Whitehaven. We have a John born 1788 but I could not find link to him as some of the records in this persons family did not link to our John Colbeck.

There's one indexed as Isan in 1851 but he's actually Esau

Esau COLDBECK 54 Licensed Brewer, Whitehaven
Hannah 52 Lamplugh
Eleanor 27 Whitehaven
Jane JACKSON 18 House servant, Ennerdale

Thanks Geoff,
It`s surprising how names were mispelled. However I suppose the christian names were unusual.
Did you see entry 1841 census for Isaac CELBECK born Whitehaven with family.

They were in Harrington ... however, looking at the image closer (and also the IGI for Harrington), the name appears to be EELBECK
Isaac EELBECK 35 Stone mason
Jane 30
Jane 4
Tamar 2
There is also a Henry EELBECK on the same page.

Was this record of family living in Parton Reg Dist Whitehaven
