Would it be possible to do a burial lookup for the whole of Hampshire?
Looking for:
A male child, surname SOFFE. Burial 1848-1854. (christian name not known)
Fathers name: Nimrod Soffe. Mothers Name: Martha Martin (Margaret)
Have already located a George Nimrod Soffe buried St Marys August 1852. This is his brother that I am searching for.
Thank you.

Hi Julie,
There is no county-wide index available for burials post 1837. :(
I have posted a reply to your request for a search of Holy Rood registers.

Hi
I was looking for another brother born in the UK but so far no luck, I am almost certain that George Nimrod (1852 - whom I have birth/death certs etc) and Nimrod George thought to have been born 1849'ish are one of the same person. Nimrod (1826-1886) was indeed married to Martha (marriage cert). Nimrod and Martha did have another son Joseph born 1854 in St Louis, they were living there to earn money to continue thir journey to Utah, he died just 4 months old and 19 days after his mother Martha, both of typhiod. They are both buried in St Louis City cemetary.
You may be thinking how I now so much? Well Nimrod was my gr gr gr grandfathers brother (James Soffe 1828). I thought the name Nimrod was a wonderful name and worth researching a little further..little was I to know of his journey to Utah. The outcome of this is that I am currently 70 pages into the story of his life, his three wives and children. It is quite fascinating and the information I have gathered is incredible.
How are you related?

Hi
We seem to have some differences on the children dates here is what I have:
Nimrod 1826 Bapt. 30/06/1826
James 1828 24/08/1828
George 1831 09/01/1931
Jeremiah 1832 30/12/1832
Samuel 1835 07/06/1840
Daniel 1837 07/06/1840
Ann 1840 07/05/1840
Jane 1843 30/04/1843
Ann 1845 16/11/1845
Noah 1848 01/08/1848
Harriet 1850 13/10/1850
All the children were baptised in all Saints church, Minstead.
I also beleive that both Ann's died. Both in infancy.
Let me know what you think. Many people have Samuel and Daniel as twins,II believe this is incorrect. Also do you have any info on Noah, he seems to have dissappeared and is the only child I can not trace further.
Happy Christmas

Hi Julie
Sorry I only had sketchy info from a medical research family tree to start with. It's hard from this distance to separate all the Minstead Soffe's into exact family groups. So you are thinking that Samuel & Daniel were born two year apart but were baptized together in June 1840. Do you live in UK?

Hi
Yes I live in the UK. Oxford.
I remember spending a lot of time on Samuel and Daniel and also that of daughters Ann and Ann. I have my notes somewhere I will take a look as soon as I can. I am sure I found the baptisms of them both. Nimrod also named 2 of his sons by his third wife Samuel and Daniel.
You may also be interested in a picture I have managed to locate (after a lot of pleading with Utah) of Nimrod Soffe (1826). Were you aware that Nimrod was a pioneer of Utah having travelled over the plains by wagon?
Maybe we should exchange emails?

Would love to view the photo, Yes was aware that he was a Utah pioneer, but not much more for details. Great work. Did you go to the Soffe family reunion at Minstead this year?

Hi,
I am descended from John Bromfield 1650-1705 of Minstead. I am keen to make contact with anyone who is linked to the Bromfield's/Broomfield's from the New Forest. I am aware that Soffe does come into the family along the line.
Very interested to read about Nimrod who travelled out to the US. Keen to find out how Winifred Broomfield 1806-1893 fits in - is she the daughter of Joseph Broomfield and Susannah Cull and is Joseph the son of William Broomfield and Ann Over? If so, I can link it all in.
Happy to share any info.
Regards,
Phil Broomfield (from Dorset, England)

Hi Phil
Winifred Broomfeld 1806 and Joseph Soffe 1805 were Nimrods parents.
Winifred's parents were Susannah Cull 1783 and Joseph Broomfield 1777.
Joseph Soffe 1805 (Winifred's husbands) Parents were Jeremiah Soffe 1766 and Miriam Cull 1766.
Both Joseph and Winifreds mothers were Culls.
Joseph Broomfields 1777 parents were William Broomfield 1742 and Ann Over 1741.
Hope it all makes sense!
I am having trouble with my broadband so if I take some time in replying u know why.
Julie
p.s. SOFFENZ - not forgetton who, just having real bad connection probs.
if you both send me a personal message then I can forward you on to my tribalpages site.

My Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Ann King, her mother, Ursula Brown King and her sister Mary Jane King were on the same ship (Golconda) as Nimrod and Martha Soffe that sailed from Liverpool to New Orleans in 1854. I am looking for more information about them.
