Post by: peh.s041 on Tuesday 20 February 07 15:46 GMT (UK)
Hi All
I am hoping that someone who knows Devon better than me can help.
I have just recived the service record for a relative of my wifes who was in the R.N. from 1864 to 1874 every thing seem to be correct except for place of birth  which is give as ASHFIELD DEVON. I have checked the genuki site and the maps I have but unable to find Ashfield Devon. does anyone know where/was this place.
Thank you in advance
Peter

Hi Peter.

Ashfield could be a reference to Awliscombe near Honiton where there is an Ashfield House & Ashfield Cottages etc.

Couldn't find/think of anything else I'm afraid.

Cheers,

Ryan.

:)

What about Ashford?
Can you find him in the 1861 or 1881 census's?
