I am looking to confirm that William FENWICK, probably born 1801 in Newton Hyde, Cheshire, actually married Mary WRAGG on April 18th, 1824 in Mottram-in-Longendale, and if possible, see what children were born to them.
I suspect their children were: Martha, 1825. Joseph, 1828. Aaron, c.1828 (possibly my 2nd g.grand father) John, 1833. Alfred, 1836 and Ann, 1842. However I am far from certain about these children and their parentage.
Any information on this FENWICK family would be most welcome.

Hi Wendy,
The 1851 census agrees with your list of children with parents William and Mary Fenwick, with the addition of one Auron (aaron?) Fenwick c1830. The census has Williams birthplace as Denbigh, Yorkshire.

On the 1841 census they are recorded as FINNICK.
You could confirm Mary's maiden name by obtaining a birth cert for Ann, who was born after the start of civil registration - a baptismal entry is unlikely to give her maiden name.

Hello to both RANDH and Rambler,
Thank you very much for the information you have offered me. It has all helped to confirm what I suspected. Part of my problem has been that I believed the sur name was FENWICK, but it seems FINNICK was equally acceptable to them and the record keepers of the time.

I am very grateful for your time and effort.
