Title: Death Burial Help needed
Post by: Greenemma on Tuesday 20 February 07 06:19 GMT (UK)
The following information was taken from a Family Bible

My notes are in brackets.

Is anyone able to help with burial or death information for any of these people who have most probably died in Ireland.

I am trying to piece together how these people fit into the family.

Francis Huston departed this life 13th Jan 1852 aged 87 years (b. 1765, no death in Victoria, Australia register, also tried Houston)

John Huston departed this life November 12th 1876 aged 74 ½ years
(b. 1802, this is the husband of Mary Ann Hunter)

William Huston departed this life May 21st 1880 aged 75 years
(b. 1805, nothing in Victorian register, also tried Houston, could William possibly be the son of Margaret Johnson & John Huston? )

Mary Ann Huston (nee Hunter) died 19th July 1899 aged 90 ( b. 1809, wife of John Huston of Clunes)

Stewart Huston departed this life Feb 6th 1894 aged 84 years
(b. 1810, could Stewart possibly be the son of Margaret Johnson & John Huston?)

Mrs S. Huston died 18th April 1856
(nothing in Victorian register also tried Houston)

Eleanor Huston departed this life 5th November 1876(?) aged 60years (b. 1816, nothing in Victorian register)

Annie Huston departed this life December 1873, aged 45 years (b. 1828, nothing in Victorian register, also tried Houston)

Arthur Huston departed this life July 22nd 1878 (nothing in Victorian register, also tried Houston)

Mrs Arthur Huston died 27th July 1855 (nothing in Victorian register)

Joseph Huston August 25th 1882 Clunes
(nothing in Victorian register, also tried Houston)

Frank Huston May 7th 1912 at Clunes (nothing in Victorian register, also tried Houston)

Margaret Johnston departed this life 22nd April  1842 aged 70 years (b. 1772, nothing in Victorian register, also tried Johnson)

Betty Johnston died August 18th 1800 aged 27years (b. 1773)

Doctor Johnston died March 2nd 1813 aged 35 (b. 1778)

Arthur Johnston died May 18th 1817, aged 37 (b. 1780)

Ellinor(Ellin) Clinton died November 24 1831 aged 97 (b. 1734)

Annie Church died Saturday August 22nd 1812 aged 65 years (b. 1747)

I have ruled out that most of these people didn't die in Victoria, Australia.

The Huston family came from Londonderry Ireland
so I am guessing these family members died in that area.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The original post is from 2007 although the poster was online in 2014. If they are still searching for information on the people listed I suggest searching Australian records again as at least a few are buried in Clunes, Victoria, Australia-

John Huston departed this life November 12th 1876 aged 74 ½ years (b. 1802, this is the husband of Mary Ann Hunter)
http://billiongraves.com/pages/record/John-Huston/3738443#given_names=John&family_names=Huston
Mary Ann Huston (nee Hunter) died 19th July 1899 aged 90 ( b. 1809, wife of John Huston of Clunes)
http://billiongraves.com/pages/record/Mary-Ann-Huston/3738444#given_names=Mary&family_names=Huston

Both listings have newspaper obituaries and other details.

An Arthur Huston and Stewart Huston are recorded farming in the townland of Drumsaragh, Kilrea, the same townland where Francis Houston lived in the Griffth Valuation (circa. 1858)

Thanks so much for the replies,   Yes I am still looking for information.

John Huston and Mary Ann Huston are my great great grandparents,  I have visited their grave at Clunes.

I have seen Mary Ann Huston's obit in the Clunes Newspaper.

I posted the photos and information on billiongraves

I have since confirmed that Stewart Huston b 1810 is the son of Margaret Johnson and John Huston

Stewart Huston, John's brother is my great great great grandfather. I am a descendant of his son Arthur Johnston Huston who immigrated to New Zealand. I have been building my family tree on Heritage.com. Was very intrigued to find the Griffith Valuation

Hello chrisnlhf,     Very pleased to make contact with you.
We are definitely cousins.   I would love to know more.    Did Arthur have siblings?
I do know Arthur and Martha had 12 children born in NZ.

I am a great grandchild of John Huston & Mary Ann (nee Hunter) who's family moved to Clunes, Vic, Australia from Ireland.

Are you living in NZ?
If you would like to discuss more and share info.   I'd be pleased to hear from you.   Regards.
