Edgar R MOON was Locomotive Superintendent with Midland Railway Company in Western Australia.(I am assuming that all references to E.R.Moon with Midland Railway Company is infact Edgar Rupert MOON ?)
Midland Railway Company of WA (Incorporated in England) was formed about 1890 and line ran between Guildford & Greenough.
In about Sept 1896 the company was placed in hands of receivers and a Mr C deBels Brounlie arrived late 1896 early 1897 and dismissed the Manager.
Edgar R Moon was Locomotive Superintendent of Midland Railway Company still in 1898.
Suspect he was English and had railway experience in England and returned to England post 1898.
Seek any details his origins and what became of him.

Thought you might like a little information,
My grandmother had a piano with MOON as the maker's stamp.
I can also remember in the late 1950's there was a music shop
in Plymouth,Devon, called..............
MOON & SON OR SONS.
kind regards
Bennett
There used to be a rather grand looking piano in the window, that I do know,
that was when I started my piano lessons, and wished we could have one, that looked just like that.
I still play.
A little bit of useless information for you/or not. LOL!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Pam
Much information.
E.R.Moon was recorded in Wises? Western Australian PO Directory 1898 as Locomotive Superintendent,Midland Railway Company.
Where he disappeared to,I do not know.
A Mr Moon was the "organist" at a wedding in 1902 at St John's Church Perth (which was on corner of Melbourne Road (now Milligan Street) & Wellington Street,Perth. A garage/workshop superceded this church and may still stand today.
Whether the Mr Moon referred to in 1902 newspaper article is the same E.R.Moon Loco Superintendent of Midland Railway Comany..remains to be established.
Thanks anyway.
I understand Midland Railway Reserve does not exist now and a shopping centre has been built.
Not confusing Midland Railway Co. with Midland Railway Workshops and remembering that Midland Junction was referred to as Helena Vale !!!
Thanks for trying Pam.

Hello
If the shopping centre I am thinking of is Centrepoint there is still a locomotive positioned outside the shops.
Across the road is the old Midland Post Office with Swan Library situated at the side of the building.

Hi. Isnt the internet remarkable.
Harold EP Moon and then Harold Rosslyn Moon of Cloudsleigh Brixton are my g grandfather and grandfather.
Edgar Rosslyn Moon is my g g uncle I think.
I was looking up their piano business.
My parents have several Western Australian artifacts (eg large rather 'striking' victoriana retirement/recognition of service gift of glass domed brass mounted emu eggs decorated with local fauna (kangaroos); boxes with labelled W Australian prospecting mineral specimens, 100s of photos).
I will ask my family/look at the engraved plate on the gift.

Hi Jm419,
Welcome to rootschat :) :)
Yes the internet is remarkable and especially rootschat - I have gained so much information from the experts here and met 2 new relatives as well.
Now there's something you need to know about sending a PM. You need to have made 3 posts before you can send a PM. You can just reply to this post twice more (with any trivial message) and then you can send a PM to Kimberley.
To send a PM you click on the little scrolls under Kimberley's name on the left.

Here's an article giving a c.v. for Edgar R Moon when he is appointed superintendent of Midland Railway Company and also mentions that he is the son of James E Moon of Plymouth and Torquay who is prominent in Devon.
