Hi everyone,
We're pretty certain that Amelia Battley returned to Australia possibly with her father Richard Henry Battley in the late 1850s and we think it's the right Amelia that married Edward Dunn in 1873 (found by some of you kind people through another link).
We've found http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:UlXffJKeRUcJ:www.archivecdbooks.com.au/samplers/AU5100-1867s.pdf+%22Battley+Amelia%22&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=uk
it talks of Insolvencies and the link is to SA Gov Gazette 1867
Is there anyway of finding out more info - Would anyone out there have the CD?
Fingers crossed

Hi Helen,
Just returned from visiting my baby grand daughter. Thanks for that, that's definitely our man; we did get that far once before and believe that Richard then returned to the UK.
We understand that Amelia his daughter went out on the "Ocean Chief" in 1860s but I've yet to find her on a list.
But I did find this link http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:UlXffJKeRUcJ:www.archivecdbooks.com.au/samplers/AU5100-1867s.pdf+%22Battley+Amelia%22&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=uk
and was hoping someone might have access to the CD so I could find out more again I think there's talk of insolvencies - must have run in the family then!
It's possible that Richard returned with his daughter and may have become a publican and possibly died there - again I've still not traced what happened to him. (born 1814 Essex).
I appreciate your help.
