Does anyone have a Brash or Crozier in their family tree?
Margaret Brash,ms Crozier had a son John Crozier born approx 1833 in Hawick who married Elizabeth Daykins on Nov 14th 1856.
Known children are,James,Margaret,Peter,Ann,Archibald,John and William.
John Crozier died May 25th 1906 age 72yrs at 7 Beaconsfield Terrace,Hawick.
Margaret Brash also had a daughter,Jane Brash born approx 1820 in Ireland, recorded in Hawick from 1841 census onward.
Margaret Brash died Sept 22nd 1860 at 3 Midrow,Hawick, her parents are listed as Adam Crozier and Jane Murray. It's likely that Margaret's husband was Andrew Brash and he was Irish,
the only other Brash on the 1841 census in Roxburghshire is Andrew Brash age 15yrs in Hobkirk and he may be another of Margaret's sons,in 1851 he is also living in Hawick.
Jane Brash had a dau Isabella Haddon, and sons Andrew and James Brash.
The surname Brash is very rare in Hawick so I am hoping someone might recognize it,
Amanda,
Canada.

Hi,
I have a few Croziers in my tree - all based in Castleton Parish, rather than in Hawick (but they are fairly close). No obvious links but here is what I have:
1. John Crozier m. Janet Rule (no dates)
Their children that I know of
1.1 John b. circa 1775 m. Isabel Scott
Children of John and Isabel
1.1.1 Janet b. 1791
1.1.2 Betty b. 1800
1.1.3 Catherine b. 1805 m. William Elliot (this is my direct line)
1.1.4 John b.1808 m. Agnes Oliver
Children of John and Agnes (no confirmed dates)
1.1.4.1 Catherine b. circa 1841
1.1.4.2 Janet b. circa 1851
1.1.4.3 James b. circa 1860
1.1.4.4 John no date
Not sure if this is of help to anyone - no obvious links to anyone with the name BRASH that I can see either.
Cheers,
Clare

Hi Amanda,
Do you have any idea when you think Adam Crozier may have been born? Sometime in the 1780s or so?
Cheers,
Clare

My great grandfather was Peter Crozier, son of John Crozier and Elizabeth Daykins. I do not have any parents listed for John as yet so your email is of interest to me. I can supply you with some detail of Peter's family.

Hi Coral, thanks for your reply, I have Peter Crozier married to 1st Mary Scott Blythe 1882,Hawick,from the census records 2 children,Helen and John,is that correct? Peter married 2nd
Isabella Ogilvie on 7th June 1900 at Hawick,I have not looked for any children for them, Isabella Ogilvie is connected to the Bowie family which have been discussed on the list.
Peter's brother Archibald married Annie Foley 31st Dec 1891 at Hawick,
Their sister Margaret Crozier married Daniel Shannon July 1st 1881,Hawick.
If you can add anything to Peter's family that would be great, have you researched the Daykins family at all?
John Crozier was recorded on the 1841 and 1851 with his mother Margaret Crozier & family,
Amanda.

Hello Amanda
Yep this is my family! Mary Scott Blythe who married Peter 13 Oct 1882 was my great grandmother. Peter and Mary's children were Ellen (not Helen) who was my grandmother and John. To my knowledge Peter had no other children.
Nanna's full name was Ellen Wilson Crozier and was born in Hawick 29 March 1884. She died 28 Nov 1963 in Sydney Australia. This is where I live. Peter divorced Mary and then married Isabella Ogilvie. I don't know what happened to that marriage but he later married Janet Lambert who was his wife when he died 2 Oct 1927 in Hawick.
Nanna married an Englishman and they emigrated to Australia in 1929.
I'll put some information together for you but it won't be until after Christmas as its a really busy time for me now. I must let you know that I have not done a lot of research but I do have some information on the Daykins.
Have a lovely Christmas.

Hi
I have a Robert Crozier in my tree, b1803 Castleton, Rox, he married Rebecca Ashcroft, they had a daughter Isabella Crozier b1847 Hawick, Rox, it appears that she had a daughter out of wedlock, Annie Crozier b1867 Castleton, she married my gt grandfather John Burns Richardson in Hawick 1887. Isabella Crozier went on to marry Fergus O'Conner Hunter.
Do any of these Croziers shake any leaves in your trees?
Happy Hunting
Carolyn :)

I know I'm very late to this party but I'm a decendant of james brash, born 29th april 1859. I was looking into trying to trace back the family tree after my grandad tried decades ago but gave up after being told that the records in enniskillen will probably have been destroyed during the civil war

Hi Vicki, thanks for your reply, never too late, great to hear from you, it's been a while since I looked at my Brash family of Hawick, let me dig out my file and I will get back to you.
Amanda.

I'm the same. I saw a post online about someone managing to date back their tree to the 1500s and I thought I'd dig around again and see if I could find anything and ended up here! I got your pm and yes I'm still in scotland. If you throw me your email we can chat on there as I'm not allowed to send personal messages on here? Maybe because I've just joined or something.
Two posts should do it -

Carolyn, I am researching the same family. Isabell and her sister both had baby girls 3 days apart, with no fathers listed.Isabell married Fergus Hunter and the sister I am still looking for.
Robert Crozier and his wife Rebecca Ashcroft had 9 known children.

and at last I think I have it under control...private email if you need help.
