Title: Marriage - Manchester church records lookup
Post by: Valanne on Wednesday 31 January 07 12:18 GMT (UK)
Is there anyone with access to Manchester church records who could look up the marriage between Mary Beaumont and James Shackleton, please?   I think it took place in the Sept.Q 1854, and James Shackleton was living  in the Hulme district at the time, and was a widower.

I'm interested in who Mary Beaumont's father was, and who signed the register, to see it there's a link to my family.

Any help will be much appreciated.   Thank you.   Val.

Dear Val

Just checked the Lancs Online parish clerk website www.lan-opc.org.uk - no listing of Mary and James's marriage but a couple of possibles for parents: -

St Mary's Manchester 21/4/1822 James Shackleton, bachelor, grocer and Charlotte Arnold, spinster

Also St Mary's 21/3/1830 Edward Beaumont, bachelor, cotton spinner and Sarak Cook, spinster (makes her mark)

07/07/1825 John Beaumont, bachelor, cabinet maker and Sarah Moorhouse, spinster, marriage by licence.

Best of luck with your research

Maria

Hi Val - the marriage is listed on LancashireBMD as at Manchester St John in 1854
www.lancashirebmd.org.uk
For the other information the parish registers are at Manchester Central Library if you want to save the cost of a certificate.

Hi Maria,

Thank you very much for that information.   The marriage on 21.4.1822 was James's to his first wife.   The suggestions for Beaumont parents will perhaps link up with my family at some future date.

I appreciate your help, and thanks again for your time.

Regards, Val.
