Title: Bond in Woolwich
Post by: clogmeisje on Wednesday 31 January 07 11:51 GMT (UK)
Can anyone help me find info on the father of my grt grandfather  John Bond b. 1857, either Devon or Sommerset., I know John became a poiceman at the Royal Arsenel Woolwich and that he married an Elizabeth Dunn b.1859 Eastbourne. His father may have been a police man too. I think his name was Edward Bond. I have info on the children of John and Elizabeth.

If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

Hi clogmeisje,

This looks like the marriage registration:

Bond  John  Sep 1883 Woolwich 1d 1606

A copy of the certificate will give name and occupation of John's father; also Elizabeth's.

Hi,

I had a look at 1881 census and found what could be him;an unmarried constable at the Arsenal giving his birthplace as Wellington, Somerset.

This looks like his birth registration:

Bond John Sep 1856 Wellington Som 5c 364

That certificate will show name and occupation of father. also maiden name of mother.

Just had a look at www.familysearch.org which has an Ancestral File showing a John Bond, born 22nd August 1856, in Wellington, to William Bond and Sarah Davey.

This is a submitted record but the submitter's details are availabe and it might be useful to try to contact them if you feel this is the right John Bond.

Hi nanny jan,

Thankyou for that, although I did think it could have been that particular John a while ago, I don't now as a relative has his marriage cert to Elizabeth which says that Edward was Johns fathers name, his prof was also police constable.

Thankyou
