Hi from Belfast, N Ireland,
I am tracing my g-grandfather Robert Arthur McCord, ship's rigger, b c1855-58 in Ireland. I believe he may have been a crew member on the SS British King which was a vessel that carried emmigrants to the USA (Philidelphia?) and NZ in the 1880s.
His father was William and he may have had a brother or uncle, name unknown who was active in the Civil War. (I guess brother is unlikely given his age, unless he was much older.)
Robert never emmigrated himself but it would be great if I could find confirmation of his presence on this or any other ship.
Many thanks for your attention,
Gary
